Excitement for the 2015 NBA Draft continues to build, and we’re breaking down all of the top prospects who expect to hear their name called on June 25.
As we look at this year’s group of shooting guards, it is an international prospect who leads the way.
1.) Mario Hezonja
Hezonja has the best blend of size, skill, and athleticism in this shooting guard class, and he’s shown it at quite a high level. At nearly 6 ft. 8 in., Hezonja can hit shots from a variety of spots on the floor whether it be off the bounce, on a kick out, or coming off of a screen. Whether or not he can make plays at the rim in the NBA obviously remains to be seen, but few talents in this class are as intriguing as him.

2.) Devin Booker
Someone of Booker’s talent level usually puts up gaudy stats in college and takes the game by storm. At Kentucky, though, that couldn’t happen for him. In some ways, that’s actually a positive for him as he’s already shown a willingness to play a role on a team that might not involve putting up ridiculous stats and shot attempts. Booker is a dead-eye shooter that possesses some explosion, so he should be the second SG taken.
3.) R.J. Hunter
Hunter has the size and length for the position, along with big-time shot making skills. Hunter was a bit of a late bloomer, but put in the right spots with a team, could be a big-time sixth man candidate that comes in, knocks down shots, and provides instant energy.
4.) Rashad Vaughn
Vaughn is one of the youngest players in the class, and was considered by many to be the top SG in his class just over a year ago. But at UNLV, he struggled with fitting into a system and showed a habit of taking some very ill advised shots. His skill level is still there, if an NBA team can be patient with him, he’s got a shot to be a productive player in the league.
5.) J.P. Tokoto
So many people spend time talking about Tokoto’s athleticism and defensive ability, both of which are at a very high level. However, what not enough people talk about is his ability to make plays with or without the ball in his hands. Tokoto was an interesting NBA declaration, but could be working his way into the first round at this point.
