Stacy Lewis scored an emotional victory at the Cambia Portland Classic as it was not only her first win since June 2014, but she promised to send her winnings to relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey. Lewis grew up just outside of Houston, so she obviously has ties to the community there, and her sponsor, KPMG, matched her donation. Next, the LPGA Tour will head to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first edition of the Indy Women in Tech Championship. This event will only be 54 holes so players could come here, and then head to France for the final major of the season, the Evian Championship. There is a prize fund of $2 million up for grabs here.

The Field
Stacy Lewis enters this week as the favorite. That’s not overly surprising as the American is coming off a win last week at the Cambia Portland Classic Presented by JTBC. She has been on a bit of a roll of late as she placed 12th two weeks ago and seventh before that. It’s not surprising to see Lexi Thompson second in line at this event. She placed 21st last week but has been playing very of late too. She has six Top 7’s in her last 11 starts. Anna Nordqvist is third in line according to the odds. She placed seventh last week. Cristie Kerr and Sei Young Kim round out the Top 5. In terms of the Race to the CME Globe, Thompson is our leader while So Yeon Ryu is in second place and Sung Hyun Park is in third.
What To Know About The Course
The Speedway Golf Course at Brickyard Crossing is a par-72 that plays to 6,621 yards. The final four holes of the event will actually take the field inside the 2.5-mile track that is Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is of course, the home of the Indianapolis 500 (and the Brickyard 400 in NASCAR). The 14th hole is a par-4 that is listed at 298 yards, so that could be a fun hole to watch over the weekend.
A Good Matchup To Bet: Lexi Thompson Over Stacy Lewis
It would be great to pick Lewis, who is a fan favorite on the LPGA Tour, but she has had a tough week with everything that has happened in Houston. Then she managed to win it for her community, and on top of that, it was her first win in over three years, which had to be tough. Go with Thompson, who finished T-21 in Portland and has four top-10s in her last seven starts. Again, her length makes her a favorite anywhere she tees it up, she just has to keep it in the fairway.
Top-Five Pick: Cristie Kerr
Kerr, who was a teammate of Thompson and Lewis on the winning United States team at the Solheim Cup, played better than either of them there with a 3-0-1 record. Kerr should also be rested after taking a week off following a T-3 at the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open, and she has finished in the top five in three of her last five starts (which also includes a T-19 at the U.S. Women’s Open). She is one of the best putters on the LPGA Tour, ranking ninth in both Putts-Per-GIR and putting average, and that is something that can really save you when going to a course you have never played before.
