2017 PGA Greenbrier Classic DFS Lineup

greenbrier classic

This week’s PGA Tour event is the Greenbrier Classic at the Old White TPC in West Virginia. This event returns to the Tour after floods in 2016 cancelled the tournament, but Danny Lee won in 2015 with a score of -15. Does the defending champion make this week’s DraftKings lineup?

Bill Haas – $10,800

Haas has had four top-25 finishes in a row after last week’s T-13 at the Quicken Loans National, and he has a good track record at the Greenbrier Classic. Haas was T-9 here in 2013 and lost in a three-man playoff in 2009 (Scott Stallings would beat out Haas and Bob Estes for the win). Haas is ninth in greens-in-regulation, so he gives himself plenty of chances to be successful. He just has to putt well.

Kevin Kisner – $10,700

Kisner has been off since a T-58 at the U.S. Open, but prior to that he had won the Dean and Deluca Invitational and finished T-6 at the Memorial. He is consistent from tee to green, except for his putting. In rounds 1 through 4, Kisner’s rankings are as follows: 191st, 41st, 18th and 110th. If he can have a consistent week on the greens, he could challenge for another win.

David Lingmerth – $10,000

Lingmerth fell off a bit at the Quicken Loans National, but still managed a T-5, his fifth straight finish of 26th or better. His putting could save him as Lingmerth is second on the PGA Tour in putts per round. He just has to be better with his irons as Lingmerth is 141st in greens-in-regulation. If he can get closer to the pin, he could be another challenger.

Charles Howell III – $9,700

Howell III has always been known as a good putter, but his flatstick has been getting worse with each round. In rounds 1 through 4 this year, he is 20th, 26th, 119th and 165th. Still, he was solo second at the Quicken Loans National and was third in proximity to the hole. He just has to bury some of the late chances that he gets if he can make it to the weekend.

Danny Lee – $9,500

Lee finished T-3 at the Travelers Championship and then T-22 at the Quicken Loans National, and he has proven to be good at the Old White TPC. He is 47th in putts per round and 14th in the fourth round, so that will help him if he is close on Sunday. He has been somewhat quiet this year, but this would could be a spot where he gets the win. Don’t be surprised if that happens.

Kevin Streelman – $8,900

Streelman had a T-17 at the Quicken Loans National, his fourth top-20 in a row. He’s really turned a corner. Prior to that, he had not placed in the Top 50 in five straight tournaments, which includes a missed cut. He is 47th in driving accuracy and 70th in greens-in-regulation, which gives him a chance to show off some improved putting. He still has to be better with the flatstick from three feet and in as Streelman is 68th on the PGA Tour.

Sung Kang – $8,600

Kang is this week’s DraftKings value pick if you need to sneak someone in. He finished T-5 at the Quicken Loans National, which is just one of his good results this year. Overall, he has three top 10’s. He is long off the tee, which is what we need here. Although, he is only 113th in driving accuracy. That’s a concern. You can see that in his results as when he hasn’t been inside the Top 10 those three times, he’s been far off. Before last week’s fifth-place result, he was outside the Top 56 for four straight tournaments. He’s hit or miss, but we’re banking on a hit this week. This is the best year of his career, and Kang could ride this momentum to a surprise finish inside the Top 10.
