After an incredible finish to the Masters on Sunday, the PGA Tour shifts to Hilton Head, South Carolina for the RBC Heritage this week. Sergio Garcia is finally a major champion and while he won’t compete this week there is no doubt he will inspire some of the golfers in this week’s field. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s PGA DraftKings competitions.
Branden Grace, $10,000
It’s difficult to figure out why the defending RBC Heritage champion is available at such a low price in comparison with those listed ahead of him in DraftKings competitions. Grace debuted with a seventh-place finish here in 2015, then followed it up with his first-career victory at this tournament last year. Grace has all of the tools to deliver another strong performance at Hilton Head this week. At $10K, it makes a lot of sense to have him as our top play in DraftKings competitions.
Martin Kaymer, $9,500
Kaymer is loaded with confidence heading in to this tournament following his 68 in the final round of the Masters on Sunday. Kaymer made five straight birdies and fired a ridiculous 33 on the back nine at Augusta. He should be able to parlay some of that momentum in to a strong performance this week. Kaymer ranks fourth on the PGA Tour in Driving Accuracy and 18th in strokes gained putting. Kaymer should contend for the outright win this week and a top-10 finish is virtually a lock.
Adam Hadwin, $8,800
Hadwin continued his impressive season with a top-40 finish at his first Masters tournament. While he struggled with consistency at times, there is no doubt he was dealing with a ton of pressure after booking his spot in the field with a win at the Valspar Championship just a couple of weeks earlier. Hadwin has top-10 finishes in two of his last three starts. He should stay hot at a course he has gained some experience on over the past couple of years. At under $9K, it’s hard to pass on Hadwin in this spot.
Pat Perez, $8,100
Perez could be an excellent sleeper pick at just over $8K in DraftKings tournaments this week. He placed T-18th at the Masters and he has now recorded eight top-25 finishes this season. Perez also has an excellent resume at this tournament where he has finished in the top-26 in each of his last four starts including a sixth-place finish here last year. The last three winners of this tournament have each finished inside the top-10 in strokes gained around the green. It should help that Perez ranks 22nd in that category overall this season.
Brian Stuard, $6,800
After locking in four top options at close to $40K, we were forced to find some sleeper value options that could surprise this week. Stuard is one of those players that could surprise after making four of his last five cuts. Stuard recorded a top-five finish at this tournament in 2014 and he is in pretty decent form heading in to the RBC Heritage. It might come as a surprise that Stuard ranks first on the PGA Tour in Driving Accuracy as well, which should help his chances this week at Hilton Head.
Zac Blair, $6,500
The last time we saw Blair he put together an impressive top-10 finish at the Shell Houston Open. Blair struggled with consistency last season but he did make the cut at the RBC Heritage and he has been much more consistent overall this season. At just $6.5K, Blair is definitely worth taking a chance on as a high upside pick in DraftKings fantasy competitions this week.
