The Favorites
Ariya Jutanugarn +800
Jutanugarn is coming off a solid finish at the Meijer and while she didn’t produce at the Arkansas Championship she now has the chance to double down at the biggest tournament of the season so far. Jutanugarn already has two wins to her name this season and a handful of other top-five finishes. At +800 odds, Jutanugarn will be a popular favorite this week.
Inbee Park +1100
Park is another golfer that didn’t produce at the Arkansas Championship but undoubtedly has the talent to really turn up the heat this week in Illinois. A three-time winner at this event from 2013 through 2015, Park has the potential to absolutely dominate at this tournament. At +1100 odds, Park should be a popular betting pick this week.
Lexi Thompson +1200
Thompson rounds out the list of the top favorites for this event after finishing her last event on a high note finishing third at the Arkansas Championship. Thompson has now posted three consecutive top-10 finishes including a pair of top-five results over her last three starts. Will that trend continue this week? Thompson is still looking for her first victory of the season. Perhaps this is the week it happens.
Next In Line
Lydia Ko +2000
Ko is also heating up with back-to-back top-10 finishes over her last two starts. Ko has never won this event but she already has a victory to her name this year dating back to the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship and she has been a staple in the top-10. Nobody will underestimate the former World No. 1 this week.
Moriya Jutanugarn +2000
The older Jutanugarn sister already has seven top-10’s to her name this season and could very well be in line for another this week. Moriya suffered a slight letdown in Arkansas in her last start but she posted top-10 finishes in three of her previous four starts and should feel confident she could bounce back this week.
So Yeon Ryu +2000
Ryu was pushed over $9 million in career earnings with her win at the Meijer a couple of weeks ago and the timing couldn’t have been better as she heads in to this major tournament with a ton of confidence. Ryu hasn’t been the most consistent golfer on the LPGA Tour this season but she has the overall talent to contend and she could be a sneaky good pick this week.
Sleeper Picks
Brooke Henderson +3300
When it comes to smart value picks for this week, there is a pair of former champions available at an excellent price. Henderson won this tournament a couple of years ago and while she has been dealing with issues off the course over the past few weeks she has proven herself among her competition in the past. At +3300 odds, Henderson should be an interesting sleeper option this week.
Danielle Kang +6600
Speaking of past tournament champions that have proven themselves at this event, Kang returns as the defending champion although few believe she will be able to repeat. The price tag alone merits Kang consideration as she is available at +6600 odds to win according to a number of sites. If you want to take a chance on a sleeper pick at excellent odds, it makes sense to consider the defending tournament champion to repeat at the Women’s PGA Championship this week.
