It was a two-event week on the PGA Tour last week as Justin Rose took advantage of a Dustin Johnson collapse to win the WGC-HSBC Championship in China, while Ryan Armour won the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi. Next, it is on to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC at Summerlin, which started back in 1983. Rod Pampling is the defending champion at this event, which he won by two strokes over Brooks Koepka.

The Field
One of the coolest things happening in the field this week is that Charley Hoffman will be making a huge donation. Whatever he wins at this event, he’ll be handing over to the victims of the recent shooting at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. The Vegas native hasn’t made the cut at this event in four years, but here’s hoping.
Overall, you’ll want to look for new faces at this event. We tend to see a lot of first-time winners in Vegas. 10 of the last 15 winners have been first-time PGA winners at this event.
Jamie Lovemark is an interesting choice for betting purposes. He finished top five at the CJ Cup and Nine Bridges. Patrick Cantlay is a bit of a longer shit but he hasn’t missed a cut since the 2014 Wyndham Championship, even though he doesn’t play that frequently. Kevin Streelman is also an interesting option as he has placed in the Top 25 five straight times, placing in the Top 15 in each of the last two years.
What To Know About The Course
TPC at Summerlin opened in 1991 and it is a par-71 that is 7,255 yards to the tips. There are a few interesting holes to watch, starting with the par-4 seventh hole that is 382 yards, and there is another short par-4 at #15, which is 341 yards. There is the par-5 13th hole that is 606 yards, and that is where the bombers can really run away from the field. That being said, this is a hard course on which to hit fairways.
A Good Matchup To Bet: Webb Simpson over Tony Finau
Simpson is the underdog in this matchup against Finau at -125, and Finau has a pair of top-20 finishes at this event, although he finished T-41 here last year. Simpson won here in 2013 and has also finished T-4 twice, although he finished T-31 here in 2016. The edge goes to Simpson because Finau is coming off the WGC-HSBC, and China is a long plane ride from Las Vegas. Simpson has been off since the Safeway Open, and he has five top-20s in his last six starts, including a T-13 at the season-ending Tour Championship.
Top-Five Pick: Ryan Moore
Moore should also be well-rested as he finished T-17 at the Safeway Open, and tht was his second top-20 in a row. He won this tournament in 2012 and has finished in the top 15 twice since then, including a T-15 last year. He also went to UNLV, so Moore will surely have some friends and fans in the gallery that he can get some energy from. Moore and Simpson actually share the course record here with a score of 260, and it would be fun to see it come down to those two on Sunday. Regardless, Moore should be taken to the bank for a top-five this weekend in Las Vegas.
