With the mid-term elections taking place just two months from now, it’s fair to start wondering who will win the 2020 Presidential Election. Donald Trump is one of the most unpopular presidents we have ever seen, but he is still the favorite to win. There is a pretty substantial incumbency advantage when it comes to political office, and the presidency is no different. However, Trump is not an odds-on favorite to win as Robert Mueller’s investigation continues to loom over his administration. There’s even a chance that he does not even earn the Republican Party nomination in 2020 because of the investigation, and that would throw the race wide open.
That makes Mark Cuban an intriguing candidate to win the 2020 Presidential Election. Offshore sportsbook BetDSI recently dropped Cuban’s odds of becoming POTUS from 75-1 to 50-1, and there is a path for him to win the presidency. Like Trump, he is a billionaire businessman with a proclivity for television, but he does not carry the same odiousness.

Recently, GetMoreSports’ Chris Sheridan caught up with Cuban and asked the Dallas Mavericks’ owner whether he intended to run in 2020. Cuban declined to answer, yet the speculation over whether he will run is likely to continue until he gives a definitive answer one way or the other.
In the past, Cuban has stated that he would probably run as a Republican Party candidate if he were to take a run at the presidency. Recently, he has seemed more open to running as an independent though. No longer are candidates beholden to a party for publicity and funding due to the rise of the internet and social media and the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United v FEC.
If he did formally declare himself as a candidate, Cuban would undoubtedly receive a ton of support. He is a household name due to his involvement in the hit ABC show Shark Tank and in his role as owner of the Mavericks. The billionaire would actually be able to self-fund his campaign too, instead of giving half-truths about self-funding. He would have to be taken much more seriously than Trump was initially, and that would likely cause Cuban’s betting odds to win the presidency to drop substantially.
The good news for sports bettors is that Cuban is a fan of sports betting. When asked what he thinks of legalized sports betting, he said it will “create more awareness, interest, attendance and viewership,” which are “all positives for the business or basketball.”
