205 Live Recap: Who Said “I Forfeit?”

While Raw, SmackDown, and NXT are focused on their Pay-Per-Views in a few weeks, this week’s episode of 205 Live is all about right now. Cedric Alexander tries to distance himself from Alicia Fox (good luck), Tony Nese attempts to establish himself at the Premier Athlete, and Jack Gallagher takes on Ariya Daivari in the first “I Forfeit” match in WWE history. As always, it’s full of fun, high paced action.

Drew Gulak vs. Cedric Alexander
Last week, Cedric Alexander broke up with Alicia Fox after she helped Noam Dar dodge a splash. However, when Alexander makes his way to the ring for his match against Gulak, Fox is right behind him. Alexander wants her to leave him alone, then Fox starts screaming at him, and even gets Noam Dar to provide backup. Dar and Gulak attack Alexander before the match, and the match begins with Gulak having the clear advantage.

The leg injury before the match helped Gulak, because Alexander couldn’t lift him up for the Lumbar Check. After two failed attempts, Gulak hits a belly-to-back suplex, then bridges for the pinfall victory. Winner: Drew Gulak

Noam Dar looks for some sort of congratulations from Alicia Fox after seeing Alexander lose, but Fox still slaps him. Luckily for Dar, he seemingly likes getting slapped.

Mustafa Ali vs. Tony Nese
Tony Nese has been on 205 Live from the beginning, and he has been impressing with his combination of strength and speed. Mustafa Ali took a bit of a hiatus after the Cruiserweight Classic, but he made his 205 Live debut a few weeks ago, and he has kept people talking. Ali focuses on more of an agile, high flying attack, which is at its best when he hits his Inverted 450 Splash. Before the match, Tony Nese says that most people would train differently to prepare for someone like Ali, but Nese is stronger and faster already, so he doesn’t need to change anything.

Tony Nese hits Mustafa Ali with a brutal German suplex into the turnbuckle (Ali lands right on his neck), then finishes Ali off with a running knee strike to end Ali’s win streak, and get Nese’s 205 Live career back on track. Winner: Tony Nese

Announcements
After making his 205 Live debut just a couple weeks ago, Tajiri suffered a knee injury at an NXT taping. Brian Kendrick, who was just starting a feud with the Japanese Buzzsaw, made fun of Tajiri’s injury on Twitter, calling him a “coward.”

We get another video package to hype Akira Tozawa’s inevitable 205 Live debut, and after being praised by Cesaro and Kalisto, we hear kind words from Apollo Crews. Tozawa is “coming soon,” but there is no specific date annnounced.

Gentleman Jack Gallagher vs. Ariya Daivari – “I Forfeit” Match
In their short tenure with WWE, Jack Gallagher (who apparently goes as “Gentleman Jack Gallagher” now) and Ariya Daivari are making history for the third time. First, we had the first-ever Gentleman’s Duel in WWE history, which would be won by Gallagher. Then, we would have WWE’s first parlay, where Gallagher and Daivari agreed on terms to end their feud. Finally, to end the feud once and for all, we have the first-ever “I Forfeit” match.

An “I Forfeit” match is very similar to an “I Quit” match, but with some slight modifications. There are no pinfalls, no count-outs, and no disqualifications. The only way to win is to force your opponent to say the words, “I forfeit,” and the loser not only surrenders the match, but the entier rivalry. As Gallagher said during their parlay, whoever forfeits will just have to deal with it.

Ariya Daivari almost gets Jack Gallagher to quit with a unique Cobra Clutch, but luckily William III (Gallagher’s third umbrella) was right in reach to escape the hold. Gallagher takes advantage, and uses William III to lock in an inescapable Crossface Chicken Wing, forcing Daivari to say “I forfeit.” Winner (via forfeit): Jack Gallagher
