This week’s episode of 205 Live highlights the Cruiserweight Championship scene and the feud between Kalisto and Jack Gallagher/The Brian Kendrick. Kalisto has a rematch against Gallagher, Cedric Alexander takes on Ariya Daivari, and Enzo Amore faces a member of the Zo Train, Tony Nese.
Ariya Daivari (w/Drew Gulak) vs. Cedric Alexander
Last night, Drew Gulak was supposed to face Rich Swann in a #1 Contender’s Match to determine Enzo Amore’s next challenger for the Cruiserweight Championship. However, Swann was recently arrested in a domestic violence incident, so he was immediately suspended and the opportunity to face Gulak in a #1 Contender’s Match was open to the rest of the division. Last night on Raw, Cedric Alexander defeated Tony Nese, Mustafa Ali, and Ariya Daivari in a “Second Chance” Fatal Four-Way Match, penciling his name in the #1 Contender’s Match on Raw next week.
Before Alexander goes on to face Gulak, he looks to build momentum against another member of the Zo Train in Ariya Daivari.
After hitting Daivari with the Neuralizer (his signature handspring enzuigiri), Alexander finishes off Daivari De Niro with the always impressive Lumbar Check. Winner: Cedric Alexander
Backstage Segment
Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari are discussing what went wrong in the match alongside Tony Nese when Enzo Amore makes his first 205 Live appearance in a couple weeks. Amore, the leader of the Zo Train, does not like that they are having an unapproved team meeting without him, and yells at them so they know “their place.”
Gulak could possibly be the next Cruiserweight Champion and he says that it “is not impossible” for him to defeat Amore and capture the gold. Amore starts using his superiority to talk down to Gulak and Nese, Gulak’s best friend, stands up for him. Nese says that he shouldn’t talk to Gulak that way. Amore calms down and asks the Zo Train to be at ringside for his match tonight… against Nese.
Kalisto vs. Gentleman Jack Gallagher (w/The Brian Kendrick)
A couple weeks ago, Kalisto seemed to have a victory in line against Gentleman Jack Gallagher when The Brian Kendrick would interfere, initiating an assault on the former Cruiserweight Champion. Before the match, Gallagher and Kendrick advise Kalisto to stay away before he “springboards into a spider’s nest.” If Kalisto keeps going into this two on one situation, that very well might be true.
Gallagher tries to use some underhanded tactics to steal a win, but Kalisto is able to sneak in a quick roll-up to pick up the victory. Right after the match ends, Kendrick attacks Kalisto from behind and it looks like a replay of a couple weeks ago. However, Kalisto gets some backup in the form of Gran Metalik. The fellow luchador lives up to his name of the King of the Ropes and takes out Gallagher and Kendrick all by himself.
Tony Nese vs. Enzo Amore (w/Ariya Daivari & Drew Gulak)
Everyone in or near the ring for this match has a pretty melancholy expression, well, except for Enzo Amore. Tony Nese does not want to fight his boss and the other members of the Zo Train don’t want tension in their group. Drew Gulak is especially feeling awkward in this situation because it is his boss facing his best friend.
When the referee rings the bell for the match to start, Amore just yells at Nese for a while to get under his skin. Amore then slaps Nese, which starts pissing him off. Nese looks like he is just about to start fighting back when Ariya Daivari attacks him from behind. Amore and Daivari assault Nese to show him his place in the Zo Train.
Amore is about to hit Nese with his finisher that no one knows how to spell, but he turns his attention to Gulak. Amore yells at Gulak to get in the ring and “man up,” instructing the potential #1 Contender to finish off his best friend. Clearly upset, Gulak goes through with it to save himself.
