Going into wrestling shows, I normally give a preview of what to expect. However, it seems like WWE didn’t even bother advertising 205 Live this week. There are two Cruiserweight matches at Fastlane this Sunday, but the “go-home” show doesn’t have anything big planned. At the very least, we’ll always be guaranteed some good in-ring action. What will tonight mean for the Cruiserweight Championship match, as well as the tag team match on the Kickoff Show?
Noam Dar (w/Alicia Fox) vs. Lince Dorado
Rich Swann defeated Noam Dar a couple weeks ago, and dedicated the victory to Alicia Fox (Dar’s girlfriend). This has led to one half of the tag team match on the Fastlane Kickoff show, where Swann will team up with Akira Tozawa to face Dar and Brian Kendrick.
While Dar is wrestling in the ring, someone comes down to ringside to deliver a bouquet of flowers to Alicia Fox. It is unclear who these are from, but it could very easily be Rich Swann.
After a jumping enzuigiri to the back of Lince Dorado’s head, Noam Dar picks up the victory and celebrates with the “beau-eh-ful, the lovely, Alicia Foooooooox.” Winner: Noam Dar
Poor Lince Dorado. Most of the Cruiserweight Division has a mix of wins and losses, but it seems like every time he gets in the ring, he ends up on the losing side. Dorado is a great in-ring competitor, with a versatile lucha libre move set. Hopefully the Golden Lynx can build some momentum soon, especially if he can get overshadowed by another luchador in Gran Metalik.
Austin Aries Exclusive Interview
In the latest development of Austin Aries showing off his tremendous journalistic abilities, A Double interviews Akira Tozawa regarding his forced apprenticeship (to put it politely) with Brian Kendrick. Tozawa has already learned two lessons in the last week. The first being that there is more than one way to win a match, shown when Tozawa was tied up under the ring. The second is that when you win the match, it is not over, shown by Kendrick attacking him from behind.
The Stamina Monster says that he respects Brian Kendrick, but he wants to make it in WWE on his own. Aries respects this reasoning, then asks what the plan is to deal with Kendrick. Tozawa wants to fight, but The Man With a Plan says he isn’t going to fight on Tozawa’s terms.
Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, & Ariya Daivari vs. Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander, & TJ Perkins
As Austin Aries notes on commentary, both of these teams aren’t necessarily units. However, they need to work together to jock for position in the Cruiserweight Division. If Neville retains the Cruiserweight Championship at Fastlane, the #1 Contender spot is going to be wide open for whoever is next in line.
Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, and Ariya Daivari execute a great strategy. While Gulak is getting pinned, Daivari places his foot on the rope. Then Daivari distracts Mustafa Ali to give Tony Nese the opportunity to hit Ali with a German suplex into the turnbuckles. TJ Perkins tags himself in, but to no avail, since he would get hit with the Running Nese and eat the pinfall. Winners: Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, & Ariya Daivari
In-Ring Segment
Neville makes his way down to the ring to complain to the WWE Universe and try one last time to sell his Cruiserweight Championship match against Jack Gallagher at Fastlane. Neville believes that he changed the landscape of 205 Live, saving the Cruiserweight Division in the process. The self-professed King of the Cruiserweights doesn’t like that the WWE Universe boos him, yet cheers for a “sideshow act” like Gentleman Jack Gallagher. After Neville calls their match on Sunday a “public execution,” the sideshow act himself comes down to the ring.
Unsurprisingly, Neville insults Gallagher and tells him to get out of “his” ring. Gallagher says that the ring belongs to the WWE Universe, and tries to forcibly make the champion leave. Neville sneaks out of the ring, but Gallagher dropkicks him over the barricade and sends him packing.
