205 Live Recap: Gran Metalik Returns to Action

This week on 205 Live, there are three matches featuring great in-ring action. Noam Dar takes on the returning Gran Metalik, Tony Nese gets a chance to defeat Mustafa Ali, and Austin Aries clashes with TJP in the main event.

Opening Segment
To kick off 205 Live, we have an interview with Austin Aries. Before Aries takes on TJP later tonight, he says what he thinks of Neville’s new ally. He calls TJP (Why can’t we just use his regular name, WWE?) Neville’s “lapdog” as opposed to his associate. TJP hurt Aries’ knee a couple weeks ago, but Aries thinks that having no knees, one knee, or three knees does not change the fact the TJP isn’t on the A Double level.

Noam Dar (w/Alicia Fox) vs. Gran Metalik
It has been a long time coming, but Gran Metalik is finally back on 205 Live. Metalik was the runner-up in the Cruiserweight Classic, and the lucha libre specialist was featured in the first match for this revived Cruiserweight Division. Metalik is one of the most talented in-ring competitors in all of WWE, so hopefully, his return means he will back as a full-time Superstar.

Noam Dar and Alicia Fox got back together a few weeks ago, and last week, they made it a point to Rich Swann that they aren’t finished with him after he attempted to break them up. Both Dar and Fox have been more successful in the ring as of late, with Dar defeating Swann a couple weeks ago and Fox defeating Sasha Banks this week on Raw.

Gran Metalik gives a great performance, but he spends a little too much time navigating the ropes, giving Noam Dar an opportunity to kick him in the leg. After Metalik falls off the middle rope, the Scottish Supernova finishes him off with the running kick to his face. Winner: Noam Dar

Announcements
Last week, Akira Tozawa defeated The Brian Kendrick with a roll-up in what seemed to finish their feud. After their match, Kendrick assaulted Tozawa all over ringside, using the steel steps to practically squish Tozawa. Next week, Kendrick and Tozawa’s feud will move to the next level when they compete in a street fight.

Also, next week is the long awaited in-ring return of Cedric Alexander. Alexander has wowed the WWE Universe every chance he got ever since his incredible match with Kota Ibushi in the second round of the Cruiserweight Classic. Along with the return of Gran Metalik, 205 Live’s roster is regaining some major players for their roster.

Tony Nese vs. Mustafa Ali
Last week, Mustafa Ali defeated Tony Nese and tonight is Nese’s chance to earn his first win since returning. However, the match never gets started. While Ali is making his way to the ring, Drew Gulak rushes down the entrance ramp and attacks him from behind. Gulak

Backstage Segment
Rich Swann is being interviewed by Dasha Fuentes regarding Noam Dar and Alicia Fox when he is interrupted by a delivery man. The man has a box for Swann, but Swann knows that Dar is trying to get back at him. Instead, Swann directs the man to Ariya Daivari. Daivari thinks that the box contains his sunglasses that he ordered, but instead, a bunch of white powder “poofs” all over Daivari and his “$1500” shirt.

TJP vs. Austin Aries
Over the past month, TJP has been trying to injure Austin Aries enough to keep him out of action. If he succeeds at doing so, Neville has promised to give him a shot at the Cruiserweight Championship. He attacked Aries’ knee a couple weeks ago on Raw, but it was not enough to keep Aries out of their match tonight. However, Aries is definitely not 100%.

TJP gets the kneebar locked in on Aries, but he uses the bottom rope for leverage and the referee forces him to break the hold. He then attempts the Detonation Kick on Aries, but A Double counters into the Last Chancery to barely put TJP away. Winner (via submission): Austin Aries

Right after Aries breaks the Last Chancery, Neville ambushes Aries to try and injure his knee even further. Jack Gallagher runs down to the ring to save what’s left of Aries but blasting Neville with William III (his umbrella) and a wicked headbutt.
