205 Live Recap: Who Said “I Quit?”

Tonight, 205 Live has a big night of action ahead. After pinning Neville on Monday Night Raw, Akira Tozawa looks to build more momentum against Ariya Daivari. Then, Rich Swann and TJP continue their “friendly rivalry” and Cedric Alexander tries to finally end his feud with Noam Dar in an “I Quit” Match.

Ariya Daivari vs. Akira Tozawa
205 Live kicks off with Akira Tozawa backstage on the phone with Titus O’Neil. On the Great Balls of Fire Kickoff Show, Neville used the top rope as a legal low blow to pick up a dirty victory over Tozawa. On Raw the following night, Tozawa would use the same methods to pick up a victory in a tag team match. O’Neil, on the phone, said that Tozawa should not feel bad about how he won the match because he was only using Neville’s own tactics against him.

Ariya Daivari appeared backstage and interrupted the phone call between Tozawa and O’Neil. After hanging the phone up on O’Neil, Daivari would question Tozawa’s honor before dedicated the match to the great Middle Eastern wrestlers of the past.

Tozawa heads to the ring apron to set up the Senton Bomb from the top rope, but Neville sweeps him off of the apron. After the referee calls for the disqualification, Neville throws Tozawa all over ringside. After knocking Tozawa down in the ring, the King of the Cruiserweights sends a message by locking him in the Rings of Saturn. Winner (via disqualification): Akira Tozawa

Public Service Announcement
Drew Gulak appears on the Titantron to apologize for his actions a couple weeks ago. In his match against Mustafa Ali, Gulak went against everything he stands for by attempting a dive from the top rope. With that match giving each man two wins a piece in their feud, Gulak proposes a match for next week to determine which philosophy decides the future of 205 Live. To make sure that there are no open ends, Gulak challenges Ali to a 2 Out of 3 Falls Match.

Rich Swann vs. Mario Connors
Before the match gets underway, there is a video package showcasing the “friendly rivalry” between Rich Swann and TJP. Starting with TJP’s victory over Swann in the Cruiserweight Classic, their battles have spanned over the past year, including a couple of Cruiserweight Championship matches. Last week, Swann defeated TJP with a roll-up after some chain wrestling on the mat.

Swann hits Connors with a swift kick to the skull, but Connors is barely able to kick out. Swann then drags him over to the corner of the ring to hit him with his signature Phoenix Splash. Winner: Rich Swann

After the match, TJP grabs a microphone and said that Swann was not as good as he expected. TJP said that he could beat Connors in half of the time that Swann did, so he offered Connors a second chance. Connors accepts, and TJP says that maybe Swann needs to step up his game.

TJP vs. Mario Connors
The time that Swann defeated Connors in is up on the Titantron (about three and a half minutes) and TJP wants to prove that he is better than Swann. While being a little too cocky, TJP almost gets himself rolled up, but a Detonation Kick quickly puts Connors away to end a 28-second long match. Of course, Connors had just lost a grueling match against Swann moments earlier. Winner: TJP

In-ring Segment
Yet again, The Brian Kendrick dresses up as a parody Gentleman Jack Gallagher and makes fun of him, calling him a “third-rate William Regal.” Kendrick says that Gallagher has never worked a day in his life, and the crowd should be cheering for a “blue collar man” like him (Kendrick) instead. Gallagher responds with some words of his own and the two have a short brawl before Kendrick attacks Gallagher with an umbrella for the second time. Referees have to rush the ring so Kendrick stops the assault.

Noam Dar (w/Alicia Fox) vs. Cedric Alexander – I Quit Match
Cedric Alexander used to date Alicia Fox, but he dumped her after she kept getting in the way of his success. Noam Dar started dating her after the breakup and he has had issues with Alexander ever since. It seems like both Alexander and Dar just want to move on, but Alicia Fox is pushing for Dar to deal with Alexander. It seems like this match could end things for good. The only way to win is to have your opponent say “I quit.”

Alexander sticks Dar’s arm in a steel chair and stomps down on it a couple times, but Dar refuses to quit. Alexander gives Dar one more chance to quit before further punishment, but Dar slaps him. Alexander then repeatedly stomps on the chair until Dar has no choice but to quit. Winner (via Dar quitting): Cedric Alexander

After the match, Noam Dar breaks up with Alicia Fox. He brags about being the youngest member of the Raw and 205 Live rosters and says that he was only with Fox for his own personal gain. He says that she is more trouble than she’s worth, and Fox cries in the corner while the Scottish Supernova walks away.
