This week, 205 Live looks to continue a big wave of momentum heading into SummerSlam. After a brawl on Raw last night, Ariya Daivari goes one-on-one with Neville for the first time. Also in the main event, TJP and Rich Swann battle in a tag team match alongside Tony Nese and Cedric Alexander, respectively, to continue their friendly competition.
Interview w/Neville
Last night, Akira Tozawa wanted to fight through his shoulder injury so after Titus O’Neil canceled his match with Ariya Daivari, Tozawa called Daivari out to the ring anyway. Instead, he was interrupted by the King of the Cruiserweights, Neville. After Neville insulted Tozawa, they got into a brawl. When it seemed like the brawl was over, Daivari stormed the ring to pick up the pieces, laying out Tozawa and Neville to the surprise of the WWE Universe.
Neville responds to this attack and says that he allowed Daivari to fare as well as he did in the brawl. The Cruiserweight Champion was absent for a couple weeks, and he says that this does not give Daivari room to attempt a “hostile takeover” of his kingdom.
Ariya Daivari vs. Neville
For weeks, Ariya Daivari has been dedicating his matches to the great Iranian athletes of the past century. He hopes to defeat Neville to future generations of Iranians can have someone to look up to and dedicate their accomplishments to him. While this match transpires, Akira Tozawa scouts both competitors by joining Corey Graves and Vic Joseph at the commentary table.
At ringside, Neville takes his eye off of the prize to taunt Akira Tozawa at the commentary table. Ariya Daivari sneaks up from behind and pushes the Cruiserweight Champion into Tozawa. By the time Neville recovers and turns around, the referee has counted to 10, giving Daivari a victory over the face of 205 Live. Winner (via count-out): Ariya Daivari
After the match, Neville and Tozawa look like they are going to brawl again, but referees rush to the ring and prevent Tozawa from entering the ring because of his injured shoulder, which was worsened in the ringside confrontation.
In-ring Segment
In a continuation of mocking Gentleman Jack Gallagher, The Brian Kendrick calls him a “clown.” In a very strange segment, he puts a picture of Gallagher on the Titantron and slowly transitions the picture from his usual self to a literal clown. Of course, the apparent clown in question responds to the former Cruiserweight Champion. He would normally take the high road, but he does not think he has that option with the “man with a plan.” Gallagher attempts to attack Kendrick, but Kendrick walks away.
TJP & Tony Nese vs. Rich Swann & Cedric Alexander
Since their incredible main event match a few weeks ago, it seems like TJP and Rich Swann seem to be in a bit of “friendly competition.” Swann defeated TJP in their big clash, and TJP has been looking to one-up his friend and fellow former Cruiserweight Champion ever since. Swann defeated local wrestler Mario Connors in a physical match, then TJP immediately started another match against Connors and only defeated him in under a minute to “prove” that he is better.
This iteration of their friendly competition is simple: TJP and Rich Swann compete in a tag team match with each man choosing their respective partners. Swann chose Cedric Alexander, who recently ended a longstanding feud with Noam Dar in a brutal “I Quit” match. TJP chose the Premier Athlete, Tony Nese, who has picked up a handful of victories recently by faking injuries.
Tony Nese lays Rich Swann out by slamming him into the commentary table, leaving TJP and Cedric Alexander to battle in the ring. Alexander attempts a springboard move, when Nese pushes him off of the top rope, sending him crashing down to the canvas. TJP takes advantage to get the quick cover over Alexander, giving him more bragging rights over Swann and the win for the team of “dabs and abs.” Winners: TJP & Tony Nese
