205 Live Recap: Realest Show in the Room

Photo from WWE.com

While Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live start new stories and start focusing on their next respective Pay-Per-Views, 205 Live keeps rolling. Tonight’s episode features the second Gentleman’s Duel on 205 Live, this time between Gentleman Jack Gallagher and Brian Kendrick, as well as Akira Tozawa cashing in his rematch clause against Neville to try and regain the Cruiserweight Championship. Also, there is a debut of a certain “Certified G.”

Cedric Alexader & Gran Metalik vs. Drew Gulak & Tony Nese
A couple weeks ago, it really seemed like Tony Nese has the upper hand on Cedric Alexander and Gran Metalik, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Nese has defeated both of his opponents tonight in singles competition over the past few weeks, but in a couple tag team matches, Alexander and Metalik have scored victories over the Premier Athlete. It doesn’t seem like Drew Gulak is that important of a figure in this story, but he is supporting his longtime friend and occasional tag team partner.

After Cedric Alexander and Gran Metalik both simultaneously jump over the top rope to take out their opponents, Alexander throws Drew Gulak in the ring and finishes him off with the Lumbar Check. Winners: Cedric Alexander & Gran Metalik

Gentleman Jack Gallagher vs. The Brian Kendrick – Gentleman’s Duel
When 205 Live was first finding its footing, Gentleman Jack Gallagher was put in a fairly lengthy feud with Ariya Daivari. Before the final “I Forfeit” match between the two, Gallagher challenged Daivari to WWE’s first-ever Gentleman’s Duel. This time, The Brian Kendrick is the one to challenge Gallagher to his own competition.

This all started when Kendrick kept repeatedly calling Gallagher a “clown,” among other things. Gallagher started losing his temper and kept assaulting Kendrick at any given time. Last week, Kendrick was so paranoid that Gallagher would attack him that he could barely focus on his match against Mustafa Ali. Kendrick decided that the only way to settle this would be to play into Gallagher’s hand.

While Gallagher is in the ring preparing for Kendrick to join him, the Man with a Plan appears on the Titantron. Kendrick says that dueling is only for clowns, so he has an appropriate substitute to face Gallagher. This, of course, is an actual clown. The clown starts joking around with Gallagher before slapping him with his glove, as is tradition in a duel.

Gallagher immediately hits the clown with a headbutt and begins assaulting him. He clears the table and sets up a powerbomb, but Kendrick appears from behind Gallagher and wails on him with an umbrella. Kendrick then hits a powerbomb of his own, sending his adversary through the table. Kendrick challenges Gallagher to a match next week so he can prove that he belongs on 205 Live. If Gallagher accepts, they will square off next week in a No Disqualification match.

Neville (c) vs. Akira Tozawa (w/Titus O’Neil) – WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Last week on Monday Night Raw, Akira Tozawa shocked the world by defeating Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship. However, Neville won the title back less than a week later at SummerSlam. After losing his belt so soon, Tozawa wanted to cash in his rematch clause as soon as possible, and this is the perfect place for it.

Just like at SummerSlam, Akira Tozawa attempts to hit the Senton Bomb, but Neville counters. After rolling out of the way, the King of the Cruiserweights quickly capitalizes by locking in the Rings of Saturn to kick off his second reign with a bang. Winner, and STILL WWE Cruiserweight Champion: Neville

After the match, Neville grabs a microphone and makes fun of the fans for rooting for Akira Tozawa, who as Neville points out, only held the WWE Cruiserweight Championship for six days. While bragging about his second reign on top of the division, he is interrupted by the debuting Enzo Amore. Amore calls 205 Live the “realest show in the room” before calling Neville “SAWFT” after the champion walks away from the newest member of the Cruiserweights. What Amore’s addition to 205 Live means is still unknown, but it sure will be interesting.
