These days, nothing beats a good old-fashioned social media interaction between professional athletes, especially when it’s good-natured. Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer didn’t have a good night on the mound Monday, but he and White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson made some fans with their public interaction. Elsewhere, one Mets great sends well wishes to another, the Marlins have reason to celebrate a rare victory and the Padres have a budding ace.
Trevor Bauer began the conversation by referencing Tim Anderson’s well-covered bat flip against the Royals from a few weeks ago.
Hey @TimAnderson7 I’m all in on the bat flips man but if you could skip a day today that would be great. Even the lord took a day of rest. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 thanks my dude

Anderson knew he doesn’t have good career numbers against Bauer and played along.
😂😂😂 My numbers against you are ugly…so if i get you i gotta flip it homie 😂

That’s fair enough. I’ll see you soon 😈 https://t.co/scZABtCqWC

Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling were teammates on the Mets’ 1986 World Series championship team. Now Darling has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and Hernandez is among those sending him wishes.
My heart goes out to Ron Darling. I know that Ron will beat this insidious disease. I’m heartened to hear that his doctors are very optimistic for a full recovery. I will stop at my church this day and light a candle for Ron and his entire family. I look forward to RJ’s return

The Marlins looked to be well on their way to another loss against the surging Cubs … until they weren’t.

Yeah, uh, Grande, 2 creams, and 1 9th inning comeback please. #JuntosMiami
Remember the name Chris Paddack. The Padres’ young starting pitcher is off to a great start, and it continued Monday night with a big performance against the Mets and THEIR young star, Pete Alonso.
“I’m coming for him.”#Padres rookie sensation Chris Paddack was talking a big game before his matchup with #Mets rookie slugger Pete Alonso tonight, and he backed it up, striking him out on 4 🔥 pitches, with strike 3 being the fastest pitch he’s thrown in #MLB so far. pic.twitter.com/KBIovqqUdV
