The PGA Tour returns to Charlotte, North Carolina and the Quail Hollow Country Club for what should be an exciting tournament in the Wells Fargo Championship. The field for this event is absolutely loaded, which should add to the excitement surrounding a tournament that has already established itself as one of the strongest on the PGA Tour schedule. Masters champion Patrick Reed, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and Tiger Woods headline the cast of stars set to compete at this year’s event. With so much buzz surrounding the tournament, we went ahead and identified the eight best bets for this week’s Wells Fargo Championship with the odds courtesy of BetDSI.

Rory McIlroy +700
McIlroy is the obvious sports betting favorite to win this tournament based on his history at the event. The Irishman has event form figures that read 1-MC-2-10-8-1-4 over his last seven starts at this tournament and there is absolutely no reason to expect a drop off in his performance this time around. The Arnold Palmer Invitational winner is coming off a fifth-place finish at The Masters and should contend for the outright win here this week. McIlroy is the best bet on the board in terms of picking a winner for the Wells Fargo Championship.
Justin Thomas +900
If McIlroy is the best bet on the board, Thomas might very well be next in line based on how well he has played this course throughout his career. Thomas struggled at The Masters but that should only serve as additional motivation as he attempts to bounce back this week. At +900 odds, Thomas will be a popular sports betting pick this week.
Rickie Fowler +1100
Fowler is an in-form course winner but it’s hard to trust him to deliver as a sports betting pick to win the Wells Fargo Championship outright based on his overall lack of victories. There is no doubt that he should contend as a legitimate option to finish in the top-10. However, at just +1100 odds you might be better off looking elsewhere when it comes to identifying a golfer to win the Wells Fargo Championship outright.
Jason Day +2000
Day was in contention to win the US PGA Championship at this course a year ago when it all fell apart in the third round on the way to a disappointing ninth-place finish. However, Day has all of the tools to excel at this event and a pair of top-10 finishes at this course should inspire confidence. Experience should also signal that Day could be on the verge of delivering his best performance ever at this event. At +2000 odds to win outright, Day is a decent sports betting option this week.
Patrick Reed +2000
Reed was a runner-up at the USPGA at Quail Hollow a year ago and he is certainly in excellent form after winning The Masters. He also finished second at the Valspar Championship and seventh at the Arnold Palmer Invitational so it’s not like he’s a flash in the pan. Reed has won in this state before, claiming his first PGA Tour victory in the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro. If he can continue his strong play this week, he could make for an excellent value option to win at Quail Hollow as a +2000 pick.
Tiger Woods +2500
Tiger might be coming off a disappointing finish at The Masters but he had registered three consecutive top-12 finishes before placing 32nd at Augusta National including a runner-up result at the Valspar Championship. Additionally, Quail Hollow is one of Tiger’s favorite courses and he should be motivated to bounce back after his latest outing. While he might not be a top-five betting option this week, it’s impossible to ignore Tiger’s potential value at +2500 odds to win.
Ryan Moore +5000
In terms of sleeper picks at excellent value, Moore might very well be at the top of the list considering his +5000 odds to win outright. Moore earned his first PGA Tour win in North Carolina back in 2009 and he has registered two top-six finishes at this tournament in the past. With four top-10 finishes in his last nine starts, Moore could be a sneaky good value option to win this week’s Wells Fargo Championship.
Bryson Dechambeau +5000
One final option to consider for this week is Dechambeau, who has come very close several times on the PGA Tour over the last year. Dechambeau nearly won the Arnold Palmer Invitational and lost by a single stroke at the RBC Heritage his last time out. If he can put it all together, Dechambeau could surprise as a legitimate sleeper pick to win the Wells Fargo Championship this week.
