Rickie Fowler +700
Fowler’s price tag isn’t exactly where you want it to be for a player that has been very inconsistent on the PGA Tour this season. That said, he is obviously the best talent set to compete in this week’s field so he’s impossible to completely overlook. Fowler has shown flashes of his immense potential throughout the year and he remains a popular betting option for those betting on PGA events. Is this the week he finally breaks through? He is the sports betting favorite to win for a reason and he should see a fair amount of support this week.
Tiger Woods +1200
Tiger continues to generate a ton of buzz even though he has been a shadow of his former self even with a few flashes of brilliance over the past few months. Tiger could win anywhere but considering his lack of victories since making his return it’s hard to imagine this is the week he does it. TPC Potomac is a tough course so it will be hard to trust Tiger this week. That said, only Fowler is listed ahead of him according to the sports betting odds to win this event outright.
Marc Leishman +1800
Leishman finished fifth at this tournament a year ago so it’s no surprise that he is listed among the favorites in a relatively weak field. While he has finished outside of the top-45 in each of his last three starts, Leishman is overdue for a strong performance so this could be the week it happens. At +1800 odds, Leishman is definitely worth considering if you think he can rebound at TPC Potomac.
Francesco Molinari +2200
Molinari has put together some impressive results this season including a victory at the BMW PGA Championship and another top-25 finish at the U.S. Open in his last start. The fact that he is listed at a much better price than favorites like Fowler and Tiger make him that much more enticing from a sports betting perspective this week. With the field wide open, Molinari should be a decent betting pick.
Beau Hossler +3300
The young American has shown flashes of his immense potential this season including most recently a runner-up finish at the Houston Open. Hossler already has four top-10 finishes so far this season and after flirting with a pair of victories there is plenty of intrigue around him heading in to this event. At +3300 odds, Hossler could be a popular betting pick at The National.
Kevin Na +3300
Na missed the cut in his most recent start at the Memorial Tournament but that doesn’t mean he can’t be trusted heading in to the National. Prior to that disappointing result, Na posted back-to-back top-10 finishes including a sixth-place finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson and a fourth-place finish at the Fort Worth Invitational. As is the case with Hossler, Na’s price tag makes him an interesting betting option this week.
Andrew Putnam +5000
Putnam is another intriguing young player that has performed at a very high level over the past couple of months. With three top-10 finishes and another two top-20 results on his resume he has certainly shown that he can hang with the best on the PGA Tour. Can Putnam put it all together and break through with a win? At +5000 odds, Putnam is definitely an interesting sleeper pick heading in to The National.
David Lingmerth +6000
If you are looking for a deep sleeper option based on price tag, Lingmerth might fit the bill. He has struggled big time this season but he loves this course so perhaps this is the week that he gets back on track. Lingmerth is coming off a top-20 finish at the Travelers Championship so it will be interesting to see if he can build off that result. At +6000 odds, he might be worth sprinkling a small amount of money on this week.
