NFL Picks: Huge NFC West Showdown Between 49ers and Seahawks on Thanksgiving

NFL Picks: The Seattle Seahawks this season have shown why it is so difficult for Super Bowl champions to maintain success.  Not only do you get the best shot of every opponent that you face but you also draw too much public betting money which serves to drive down board value.  The San Francisco 49ers have tried to work through front office strife and infighting of head coach Jim Harbaugh with the team brass.   Injuries and suspensions have also been an issue for the 49ers as their offense has been sluggish.

The San Francisco 49ers will host the Seattle Seahawks at Levis Stadium on Thursday night with coverage on NBC starting at 8:30 PM ET.  The 49ers opened as a 1.5 point favorite with a total of 44.

Into Gear

San Francisco is 7-4 straight up, 6-5 against the spread, and 4-7 under the total after a 17-13 home win over Washington in which the 49ers failed to cover as nine point chalks.  The 49ers are tied with Seattle for second place in the NFC West two games behind Arizona.  San Francisco ranks second in the NFL for total defense but has slipped badly on offense to rank 19th overall.

Subpar Seahawks

Seattle is 7-4 SU but 5-6 ATS and 7-4 over the total after a 19-3 home payout against Arizona.  The Seahawks are similar to San Francisco in that they rank 12th for total offense but first for total defense.

Matchup and Pick

Seattle has been a solid betting value on the road and has covered the spread in 12 out of their last 18 away games with six out of their last 10 away games going under the total.

San Francisco has been a subpar betting value at home with just eight payouts in their last 20 home games with eight out of their last 11 home games going under the total.

Seattle has taken control of this head to head series with the 49ers.  The Seahawks have covered the spread in eight out of their last 10 games with the 49ers as five out of the last six games in this head to head series have gone under the total.  The Seahawks have come away with the money in their last two visits to San Francisco with both of those games going under the total.

Both the Seahawks and the 49ers are mirror images of each other as they like to run the ball, play tough defense, and have mobile quarterbacks.

With their respective home and away betting records and considering head to head meetings, we’ll call for Seattle and under the total in this one.
