Tennessee Titans – Jacksonville Jaguars

The Tennessee Titans will travel to play the Jacksonville Jaguars this week in a matchup between two teams headed for the draft lottery. The game starts at 8:25 p.m. ET on Thursday and can be seen on NFL Network.

The last meeting between the Jaguars and Titans came in Week 6 when Jacksonville suffered a narrow defeat against Tennessee 16-14. Clay Harbor had a big performance in that game, pulling in three balls for 91 yards and one TD. Blidi Wreh-Wilson led the way for the Tennessee defense, registering 11 tackles and one interception.

Oddsmakers have deemed the Jacksonville and Tennessee game an even matchup and the Over/Under (O/U) is sitting at zero points. Heading into Week 16 of league action, the Jaguars are 2-11 Straight Up (SU) and 3-9-1 Against The Spread (ATS). Over their last five games, the Jaguars have records of 1-3 both SU and ATS. Scoring against the Jaguars has been harder than usual as of late. While they’ve given up an average of 27.4 points for the season, they have stepped it up in the last five games, only allowing 21. The Jacksonville defense has played at another level during those games. Its given up only 284 total yards per game during that span. One of the keys to the game will be if the Titans can protect the quarterback against Jacksonville’s aggressive pass rush. The defense ranks third in the league in sacks with three per game. Jacksonville isn’t likely to jeopardize its chances of winning this week with penalties. The team is the least penalized in the league, averaging only 4.7 per game.

On the other side, the Titans head into Week 16 with records of 3-9-1 ATS and 2-11 SU. In the previous five games, Tennessee has a record of 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS as well. The Titans defense will look to take advantage of Jacksonville’s offensive line, which sometimes appears uninterested in blocking. The Jaguars give up an average of 4.2 sacks per game, worst in the league. The Titans will look to put the ball in the end zone against a Jacksonville defense that allows the most points on average (12.1 points) in the second quarter of home games.

Predictions: SU Winner – JAC, ATS Winner – JAC, O/U – Over
