BJJ Worlds Only at BETDSI! 5/28/2014

The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Championships are heading to Long Beach, California this year, starting on May 28th and running consecutive days until June 1st.  Look for odds for the full gamut of weigh classes in the black belt divisions and absolutes at BETDSI.COM, the only online book to take odds on grappling!

The applications for the field closed yesterday, May 19th so the competition is starting to take shape.   The black belt divisions have 8 weight classes (Rooster, Light Feather, Feather, Light, Middle, Medium Heavy, Heavy and Super Heavy) on the male side and the same eight on the women’s side.

The way the odds work is that a number is posted, such as (+200).  This indicates that for a $100 bet, you can win $200.   Now, there are a ton of astronomical numbers, many over (+10000), so for a $100 you can go home with more than $10000.

Not that any of these guys with those odds are likely to break through. The number of people in some of the weight classes totals several dozen, but in that number there are only a handful of individuals with a legitimate chance at the title.

Grappling is not a game of huge surprises, where a young phenom can come out of no where and compete.  It takes years to get a black belt, and in that time, you have been competing and you have been taught by people in the game, all of which gives even new competitors very little in the way of surprises.

But that is not to say that people who follow the scene closely cannot find a way to make some money betting on these odds.  Especially in the case where a particular fighter is coming into his own and fighting at a high level, and he is confident and ready to climb the mountain to the championships.  In the history of the BJJ World Champions, there have been many stellar athletes who have won the titles in their weight classes for many years in a row, so you have to look to your champions from last year as the favorites.  Then a close study of their records and competition between the worlds.  It is here that a newer competitor can rise to another level.

Take your chances, get to know the sport, as there is some potential for payouts in this payout system.
