Baseball Odds: Memorial Day action in Major League Baseball includes the St. Louis Cardinals hosting the New York Yankees on ESPN. These two marquee teams have not met since 2005 so this should be an interesting series. It is a full schedule of action on Monday in baseball with a number of televised contests. Let’s take a look at the two matinee games on ESPN and the main contest on MLB Network in the evening between the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers and baseball predictions.
New York Yankees at St. Louis Cardinals (ESPN)
These two teams have not met since 2005 when the St. Louis Cardinals took two of three at home from the New York Yankees. The St. Louis Cardinals have been good at home this season as they won 13 of their first 20 home contests. The New York Yankees have played pretty well on the road this season so they could be a live underdog in this contest. Instead of going with a side I will simply take the game under the total.
Boston Red Sox at Atlanta Braves (ESPN)
This is actually the first game of the day on Memorial Day and the home team will be favored. It is expected to be Clay Buchholz going against Ervin Santana. Buchholz has been really poor this season as he comes into this contest at 2-4 with an ERA of 6.32. He says he is not hurt but if that is the case then he is in real trouble because he can’t get anyone out right now.
The Atlanta Braves are expected to go with Ervin Santana who is 4-2 on the season. He was red-hot early but he has allowed 11 earned runs in his last 12 innings. His ERA for the season is still not too bad at 3.42. I will go over the total with this matinee on Monday.
Cincinnati Reds at Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB Network)
This should be a pitcher’s duel on Monday night with Johnny Cueto going for the Cincinnati Reds while the Los Angeles Dodgers should be going with Hyun-Jin Ryu. I will take this night game under the total in baseball predictions.
