World Cup Odds: Brazil is the 3-1 favorite to win the 2014 World Cup that begins in mid-June. The host country is listed just ahead of Argentina in the betting with Germany the third choice. Spain is the only other team listed with single-digit odds. Let’s look at odds to win the 2014 World Cup, the top contenders and a couple of darkhorses.

Brazil is the host country and they are heavily favored to win Group A. None of the other teams in Group A are any threat to win the World Cup. Spain is the heavy favorite to win Group B while Netherlands and Chile could be considered darkhorse contenders. Colombia is the big favorite to win Group C and some people have them as a darkhorse contender to win the World Cup. Group D has Italy, Uruguay and England and all three could be thrown into the darkhorse contender category.

France is the favorite to win Group E and not without a chance to win the World Cup title. Argentina is a heavy favorite to win Group F and a definite contender to win it all. Germany is favored to win a tough Group G with Portugal a possible darkhorse while Belgium is favored to win Group H.

There will be a total of 48 matches played in the group stage with each of the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout round.

Rarely in World Cup history do teams come from outside a continent and win the tile. It has only been done twice in World Cup history so you have to like the chances of Brazil and Argentina as the two favorites. The two darkhorses in World Cup betting odds could be Colombia and Uruguay.
