McIlroy Already in Top Form

The world’s number one nearly won a couple of weeks ago in Abu Dhabi and so he comes into this event in top form. He has fond memories of this tournament in Dubai as he won it in 2009. That was his first European Tour win and it came at the age of 19.

“I’ve got great memories of Dubai and it will be fun to get back to a golf course where I have enjoyed success over the years,” said McIlroy, “It was nice to get my first professional win in Dubai. I had my parents there with me and it was a special moment that I will never forget. That win was a real stepping stone for the success that followed and my relationship with Dubai went from strength to strength.”

Golf Picks

The clear standout in this field is McIlroy and even at golf odds of 3-1 he is a decent bet. There are some interesting longshots in this event that might have a shot if McIlroy stumbles. Martin Kaymer is listed at 15-1 and if not for blowing a huge lead earlier this month he would already have a win in Dubai. Lee Westwood also is an interesting longshot as he is listed at golf betting odds of 20-1. Westwood has 41 wins in his career including 23 on the European Tour and he has played well in the past in Dubai.
