NBA Odds: Pacers (even)
The Indiana Pacers (22-33) will try to slow down the league’s top scoring team when they take on the Golden State Warriors (43-9) at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The game gets underway at 6:00 pm ET on Sunday, Feb. 22 and will air on CSN-BA and FSN-IN.
The Pacers were victorious over the 76ers 106-95 on Friday. Rodney Stuckey led all scorers with 30 points on 10-for-16 shooting. The Warriors, meanwhile, are coming off a 110-99 win over the Spurs on Friday. Stephen Curry had a good game and claimed his 16th double-double of the season, posting 25 points and 11 assists.
The inefficient Pacers offense (26th in the NBA with an offensive efficiency of 99.7) will square off against the stingy Warriors defense (first in the league with a defensive efficiency of 97.8). The Warriors figure to have the advantage on that end of the court.
This will be the second matchup of the season between these two teams. The Warriors won the first game 117-102. Klay Thompson was the game’s leading scorer with 40 points.
Oddsmakers have deemed this game an even matchup and the Over/Under (O/U) is currently unavailable. The Pacers look to improve upon their records of 22-33 Straight Up (SU) and 29-24-2 Against The Spread (ATS). They are 7-3 ATS over their last 10 games. An area where the Pacers are particularly strong is defensive rebounding where they average 34.1 defensive rebounds per game, fourth in the NBA.
Across the court, Golden State has a SU record of 43-9 and an ATS record of 32-19-1. In Eastern Conference games, Golden State has gone 16-2 SU and 9-8-1 ATS. The Warriors are shooting very well so far, with an NBA-best .387 field-goal percentage from the three-point line. When it comes to making good decisions with the ball, not many are better than the Warriors. They have one of the top assist-to-turnover ratios in the league at 1.9. Shifting to the other side of the court, teams seem to consistently miss shots against the Warriors, who are the top team in the league in terms of opponent field goal percentage allowed at .422. They average 9.4 steals per game, good for fourth in the league. A large part of Golden State’s game is creating turnovers and turning them into points. They are scoring 20.0 points per game off turnovers, which ranks second in the league.
Following the Warriors’ latest win over Indiana, the head-to-head record between these two is now an even 5-5 SU over the past 10 meetings. However, the Pacers lead the matchup ATS with a record of 6-4. Golden State topped the Pacers in three key areas (field goals, rebounds, and three-pointers) three times over the last 10. Indiana has had the edge in all categories once.
Predictions: SU Winner – GS, ATS Winner – GS
