Will Brooks Favored Over Dave Jansen At Bellator 136

Bellator 136 comes to us on SpikeTV tonight from Irvine, Calif. with a featured lightweight title fight between Will Brooks (15-1) and Dave Jansen (20-2).

This is Bellator’s fifth event of the year, and the live event features 13 fights overall.  Whereas the Bellator cards earlier in 2015 would see lines pop up on perhaps four of the fights, this Bellator 136 card has been had seven fights pop up at the sports books.  The lines for Bellator usually open with 48-72 hours to go before the show, and that is the case in this event as well so the company still has a long way to go before they get the full respect of the books.

As the deepest Bellator event of the year, the card features a lot of talent that has developed under the Bellator flag.  Jansen has gone 7-0 with Bellator to earn this title shot, an the next contender for the lightweight belt may come from the Marcin Held (20-3) and Alexander Sarnavskiy (30-2) fight.

Saad Awad is facing newcomer Rob Sinclair, but Awad owns a win over the titleholder Will Brooks and another win here would help him make the case that he is next in line for a lightweight title shot.  Also returning on this card is former heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov, who faces big-hitting Tony Johnson.
