Saturday MLB Super Seven and Sleeper Fantasy Picks: A Breakout For Starling Marte?

Starling Marte is due to break out for the Pirates

We will focus on nighttime action with our Saturday Super Seven selections and Sleeper after a big Friday night in which Mike Trout powered out lineup with two home runs, two runs, and five runs batted in.  Our top picks are with FanDuel prices.

P – Jacob deGrom – New York Mets

The Mets will host the Miami Marlins at 6:10 p.m. ET.  deGrom opened at $9,400.  The Mets are one of the hottest teams in the game with eight wins in their first 11 starts while Miami is just the opposite, with eight losses in their first 11 games.  In his first two starts deGrom has been outstanding with a 1.46 earned run average.  deGrom struck out nine batters in 13 innings with just two earned runs allowed.

C – Evan Gattis – Houston

The Astros host the Los Angeles Angels at 6:10 p.m. ET.  Gattis opened at $2,900.  The Astros are going up against Angels’ starter C.J. Wilson, who was bombarded for nine hits and earned runs in 5.2 innings of work in his last start.  Gattis has been off to a terrible start for Houston with a .138 batting average and .162 on base percentage with a slugging percentage of just .250, which gives him plenty of upside potential.

1B – Eric Hosmer – Kansas City

The Royals will host the Oakland A’s at 6:05 p.m. ET.  We picked Hosmer as one of the key players in all of fantasy baseball during spring training and are not backing off.  After a slow start Hosmer has begun to click to now have a .302 batting average with six runs and nine RBI.  The Royals have won eight out of their last ten games with a lineup that has scored the most runs in the game.  Hosmer is a bargain at $3,400.

2B – Justin Turner – Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers host the Colorado Rockies at 8:10 p.m. ET.  Turner is at $2,600.  The Dodgers will be facing Rockies starter Jordan Lyles, who has a career ERA of 5.03 with a .277 batting average against and a 1.43 WHIP with a record of 22-33.  Turner is off to a slow start with a .222 batting average and .222 slugging percentage, which are both far below his career numbers.  The4 Rockies pitching staff ranks 23rd for quality starts.

3B – Evan Longoria – \Tampa Bay

The Rays host the New York Yankees at 6:10 p.m. ET.  Tampa Bay will face Yankee starter Masahiro Tanaka, who has been shelled in his first two starts with a 7.00 earned run average.  Tanaka has allowed nine runs in nine innings with nine hits and two home runs against.  Longoria is off to a sluggish start with a .235 batting average but with all kinds of upside as the best player on the Rays.  He rates as a bargain at $3,600.

SS – Eric Aybar – Los Angeles Angels

The Angels are at the Houston Astros at 6:10 p.m. ET.  Aybar opened at $3,000.  The Angels are off to a sluggish 5-5 start and rank in the middle of the pack in Major League Baseball for run production.  That opens the door of potential for Aybar, who is far below his career numbers with a .200 batting average and a .282 on base percentage.

OF – Starling Marte – Pittsburgh

The Pirates host the Milwaukee Brewers at 6:05 p.m. ET.  Marte opened at $3,600.  The Pirates will be up against Brewers starter Kyle Lohse, who has been bombarded with an 11.17 earned run average with 18 hits and three home runs in 9.2 innings of work.  Marte has been off to a dreadfully slow start with a .152 batting average and .194 on base percentage which is far and away below his career numbers.  We look for a breakout tonight.

Sleeper – Carl Crawford – Los Angeles Dodgers

We are still not sold on the Rockies and Crawford could prove to be an astute bargain at $2,900.  Crawford was off to a ho-hum start with a .258 batting average, .281on base percentage, and .323 slugging percentage with the capability of much more.  Crawford is a .280 to .300 type of hitter that can thrive tonight.
