This game has always been, and always will be, about buckets. At least, that’s what NBA legend Bill Russell tells us, and when Russell speaks, everyone should listen.

Perhaps that is what makes Allonzo Trier, another blue-chip headed to play for Sean Miller at Arizona, so fascinating. He plays with emotion, and quite simply, gets buckets.

Name: Allonzo Trier

Height: 6’5

Position: Shooting Guard

Ranking: Five-star, No. 13 overall

Strengths: In the college game, there’s always room for guys that go out and score 20 points in their sleep. Trier is certainly one of those guys, given his ultra-attacking mindset on the offensive end. He can knock down shots from the perimeter, sure, but he’s at his best attacking the rim where he can finish over defenders at the rim, or absorb contact and finish with both hands. Another key for Trier is his ability to get to the free throw line, which should serve him well in the college game. He’s also a high-level competitor on both ends, rarely having a problem with turning his motor on.

Areas to Improve: For as effective as he is at scoring the ball, Trier doesn’t really do anything at an extremely high level, when talking about his skill. He has the ability to knock down shots from deep, but he’s not a consistent threat from there. He can score at the rim, but sometimes struggles to create his own shot off the dribble against high level defenders. Defensively, he competes but isn’t a stopper.
