It isn’t every weekend that we would plug in two players from a team facing relegation like QPR but a home matchup against Newcastle isn’t a situation we are particularly afraid of. Don’t let us down, QPR. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings Premier League Daily Fantasy Leagues.
GK: Hugo Lloris, Tottenham
Salary: $5,800
Lloris hasn’t been the most consistent fantasy option among goalkeepers this season but with the Spurs chasing a Champions League spot facing Hull at home this weekend, we feel comfortable plugging him in here with the potential for the win. A clean sheet bonus is very much in play too as Hull has just 14 tallies in 18 away games.
D: Ryan Bertrand, Southampton
Salary: $4,600
Bertrand is among the top-five fantasy defenders on the board for Saturday’s game based on his production this season. With Southampton home to Aston Villa this weekend, he should be able to put together another solid stat line.
D: Danny Rose, Tottenham
Salary: $3,900
Rose is yet another top-five fantasy defender on the board for Saturday based on his production this season and more importantly, he has the lowest salary of those five (Bertrand, Kieran Trippier, Leighton Baines and Aaron Creswell). We have already plugged in Lloris with the potential for a clean sheet, so it only makes sense to have Rose in there as well as the best value play on the board for this weekend.
M: Steven Gerrard, Liverpool
Salary: $5,900
Gerrard’s time at Liverpool is coming to an end but he remains one of the top fantasy midfielders on the board. It will be interesting to see what he has in store down this final stretch. Gerrard scored his eighth goal of the Premier League season last game versus Chelsea and he could be in for a big game at home against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
M: Matt Phillips, QPR
Salary: $4,800
Phillips isn’t a dominant fantasy midfielder but he is a top-eight play for Saturday’s game according to the fantasy numbers from this season. On top of that, he is the lowest priced of that group according to his DraftKings salary. Phillips might not find the back of the net but he is a quality two-way player available at under $5,000 and the money we save taking him here can be used on the F spot.
F: Harry Kane, Tottenham
Salary: $10,600
That extra money available can be used on Phillips’ teammate and the No. 1 forward on the board for Saturday’s action in terms of overall production this season. Kane’s 20 goals are more than any other player available in daily leagues on Saturday and he has a good chance to add to that total versus Hull.
F: Charlie Austin, QPR
Salary: $9,700
It shouldn’t be a surprise that with the available salary we go after the next highest goal scorer on the list for this season in Austin with QPR, who is at home against Newcastle. This will be another tough test for a side that is buried in the relegation zone but Austin will be playing to improve his already substantial stock for any available suitors that are interested in acquiring his talents for next year.
FLEX: Marko Arnautovic, Stoke
Salary: $4,500
Arnautovic is the best remaining option on the board that will fit our remaining salary and a trip to face Burnley isn’t any reason not to take him here. He has been moved around this season but he played the full 90 minutes in his last start and produced an assist. So as long as he is back in the starting XI for Stoke in this game, he is the best option on the board for the FLEX spot with the remaining available salary.
