Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings MLS Daily Fantasy Leagues.
GK: David Ousted, Vancouver
Salary: $5,000
The Whitecaps have the best record in the MLS but they will face a stiff challenge from Seattle on Saturday and that means Ousted will need to be at his best. Ousted has consistently been one of the best goalkeeper options in the MLS this season and with Vancouver at home against the Sounders, we feel comfortable plugging him in to this spot.
D: DeMar Phillips, Real Salt Lake
Salary: $4,200
Montreal has the worst record in all of MLS by a mile as they are the only team in the entire league that’s failed to register a win. Beyond that, they’ve only managed to score three goals in their five games this season. That means it’s a good idea to have at least a couple of players from the Real Salt Lake lineup on the roster for Saturday. Phillips has been excellent for RSL all season and at a discount price in a favorable matchup, we want to plug him in here.
D: Alvas Powell, Portland
Salary: $4,000
Powell has been one of the best fantasy defenders in the MLS all season – including the last two weeks in particular. With Portland making progress thanks in big part to its strong back line, we feel very comfortable slotting in Powell at a discount price here. The Timbers have allowed just nine goals in 10 games this season.
M: Pedro Morales, Vancouver
Salary: $8,600
Vancouver has a tough test against Seattle as this will be a showdown of two of the top three teams in the West. But considering the way that Morales has been able to rise to the occasion all season, we feel comfortable plugging him in here with the expectation that he will play a starring role for the Whitecaps once again in a win over the Sounders.
M: Luis Gil, Real Salt Lake
Salary: $5,000
Another opportunity to capitalize on the matchup versus Montreal with Gil in this spot as one of RSL’s most consistent fantasy options. Gil doesn’t take up a ton of salary space either, which makes him a valuable bargain play in this spot.
F: Octavio Rivero, Vancouver
Salary: $9,000
Rivero has been very good for Vancouver of late and with a good amount of salary left over, we can use him in this spot at a $9,000 hit. The Whitecaps will be looking to put on a show for their fans in a tough test at home and Rivero will be key to winning this game. As good as Seattle has been, they’ve still been average on the defensive end, giving up a goal per game so far this season.
F: Dom Dwyer, Sporting Kansas City
Salary: $8,800
Dwyer is another one of the top forward options for Saturday’s games and with Sporting Kansas City at home against Colorado, we feel very comfortable using him here in this spot. SKC hasn’t been the most consistent goal scoring team as they’ve tallied just two goals in their last two games after scoring five in the two games before that. However, Dwyer is their best option up front at home in a favorable matchup.
FLEX: Diego Valeri, Portland
Salary: $5,400
We don’t often lean on Timbers’ players but with a respectable salary and a favorable matchup versus Houston, we feel comfortable using another one of them here. Only the Philadelphia Union have given up more goals than the Dynamo this season. Valeri has proven his worth in the Portland midfield over the past couple of weeks and he has the highest upside of the remaining players that we can afford to fill this FLEX position.
