The UFC Fight Night series returns to Goiania, Brazil on May 30 with a Fight Night event headlined by the welterweight match-up between Carlos Condit and Thiago Alves.
This is an interesting fight between two men who once had hopes of impacting the UFC’s welterweight title picture, however both men are trying to overcome rough patches in their careers. Condit, who once held the interim UFC title, has gone (1-3) in his last 4 fights and he has been off for 14 months due to a knee injury. His last fight was in March of 2014, when he was stopped by Tyron Woodley and prior to that he had been healing injuries for 11 months. Alves last fought in January, when he defeated Jordan Mein, but prior that his last fight was 9 months prior, when he defeated Seth Baczinski. Alves took a tough loss in March of 2012 to martin Kampmann which saw him miss 25 months before his next fight.

If both men are at peak form, Condit is the more complete fighter. Alves is a bruising striker but in his most recent outing against Mein, he probably lost the first round before scoring a KO kick to the body early in the second round. Gas has been a problem for Alves in the past, whereas Condit has been one of the top conditioned athletes on the roster. the bottom line is both men enter this fight with a lot to prove.
