It should be no surprise that Manchester City always seems to be involved in the latest transfer rumors. After all, Sheikh Mansour has seemingly bottomless pockets when it comes to the amounts of money he is willing to invest in the team. With no constraints on the spending budget, there is reason to believe they could be involved with every player that becomes available. Manchester City will undoubtedly look to upgrade via the transfer market this season in an effort to compete for a Premier League title and more next season. Here is a look at some of the recent transfer rumors surrounding the club and whether or not they deserve to be called Fact or Fiction.
Kevin De Bruyne
One player that Manchester City is reportedly interested in signing is De Bruyne, the 23-year-old former Chelsea midfielder that has played at a very high level in the Bundesliga this season. City would benefit from improving its talent level in the middle of the field and the Wolfsburg midfielder would be an interesting target for them to consider. De Bruyne will be an expensive acquisition but we have already established City’s deep pockets. There’s also the chance that they could also make some money by moving one or two players that have underachieved on their roster in order to help with the potential acquisition. Verdict: Fact

Stevan Jovetic
One risk that teams with deep pockets run at times is spending too much money on players they should probably pass on. That certainly seems like the case when it comes to Jovetic. He has been a major disappointment since arriving at Manchester City in 2013 with injuries and inconsistent play keeping him from reaching his potential. That’s why it shouldn’t be a surprise that his name has come up more than a few times in terms of the player’s City would consider moving this offseason. Inter Milan is among the handful of teams rumored to be interested in Jovetic, so rumors of his eventual move definitely deserve to be considered fact at this point. Verdict: Fact
Yaya Toure
Toure is another potential asset that City could move if they feel the price is right but it will depend largely on whether or not they feel they can replace the talent they will lose. Toure has been an excellent piece for City this season, so there is no real reason for them to have any urgency to move him but if they find a potential upgrade or decide the money is too much to turn down for a player they can replace with another move, then the Ivorian could definitely be on the move. The best guess as of right now is that one of the Serie A teams lock him up as there are a number that have been rumored for his services. Verdict: Fact
Roberto Firmino
One player that could interest City is the 23-year-old Firmino, who won his first International call-up this season and has said that he wants to play in the Premier League. There are a number of teams that would be interested in his services though, so City will have to expect some competition from the other EPL titans. Acquiring Firmino might not be the easiest move for City to make this offseason, even if they are interested. Verdict: Fiction
James Milner
The Premier League season is coming to an end and with no contract currently in place to keep Milner at City past this season, there is a good chance that he could be on the move this summer. He’s had a solid career at City, which has included 12 goals in 145 games. He’s been Mr. Consistent for them this season but a number of teams are reportedly interested in his services – including Liverpool in the BPL – so don’t be surprised if Milner joins one of City’s rival teams this offseason. Verdict: Fact
