The UFC Fight Night 68 card scheduled for this Saturday in New Orleans is headlined by a Middleweight fight between veteran Dan Henderson (30-13) and Tim Boetsch (18-8). This match became the main event when the light heavyweight battle between Daniel Cormier and Ryan Bader was pulled from the card to move Cormier into a light heavyweight title shot. Cormier went on to win the title in his bout with Anthony Johnson, and rather than re-book Bader to headline this card, Bader is probably heading for a title shot with Cormier down the line.
Henderson is coming up on 45 years old, and he has lost five of his last six fights, so to say he is nearing the end is an understatement. The only caveat is that he has been fighting the likes of Cormier, Gegard Mousasi, Vitor Belfort and other top flight talent and Boetsch does not fall into that category. A win could mean another match and payday, which Henderson may be looking for as he nears the end.
Boetsch is roughly ten years younger, but he too has been on a down slide, going 2-4 in his last six matches. Though he has fought some quality opposition such as Luke Rockhold, some of his losses have come to less than top flight talent such as Mark Munoz and Costas Phillipou.
