The MLS schedule for this Saturday night is absolutely loaded and that means we’ll have plenty of players to choose from in DraftKings MLS Daily Fantasy Leagues. We have narrowed down the schedule to find the most favorable matchups that offer the best combinations of talent and value in order to help you build a winning lineup. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings Daily Fantasy Leagues.
GK: Stefan Frei, Seattle
Salary: $4,700
The most favorable matchup on the board appears to be the Columbus Crew at home against the Montreal Impact but since it costs more to have their stars at other positions, we will have to resist taking the Crew’s Steve Clark as the highest priced goalkeeper on the board. Instead we will find potentially the best value play at the position in Seattle’s Stefan Frei. Frei has been outstanding all season for the Sounders and while visiting Kansas City isn’t the ideal situation since they’ve scored a league-high 21 goals so far this season, there is still a good chance he earns the win to help complete a strong performance on the road. The fact that he is available for under $5K makes him a quality choice in this spot.
D: Tyrone Mears, Seattle
Salary: $5,500
Frei isn’t the only strong value play that can be plucked from Seattle’s lineup. Mears has shown up on our radar before with some outstanding weeks and is worth taking a flier on here at a reasonable price.
D: Alvas Powell, Portland
Salary: $4,000
Our value play on the back end comes from the Portland Timbers where Powell has been one of their best defenders. The Timbers face a tough matchup with the New England Revolution in town but Powell has been excellent and he should get plenty of work in this contest.
M: Federico Higuain, Columbus
Salary: $9,500
The midfield position is where we can select our first player from the Crew’s favorable matchup with Higuain coming in as the second-highest priced midfielder on the board. Only Orlando’s Kaka will cost you more to play. Columbus will have the chance to score at least a couple of goals against Montreal and Higuain should be right in the thick of the attack.
M: Marco Pappa, Seattle
Salary: $7,100
It’s not that we mean to go back to Seattle’s matchup a third time but the fact that they are on the road this week against KC means that their players are available at a decent price. Seattle has been the best team in the MLS so far this season and normally their key contributors would cost you more. That includes Pappa here, so we’ll invest.
F: Kei Kamara, Columbus
Salary: $11,100
Kamara is the highest priced forward on the board for this week and we love the idea of plugging in him and Higuain as the two most likely to produce for Columbus. Both players have put up solid numbers so far this season so look for them to contribute a strong fantasy stat line against a very susceptible Montreal team. The Impact have allowed 13 goals in eight games this season.
F: Kekuta Manneh, Vancouver
Salary: $4,800
With Higauin and Kamara locked in, there is only so much money left to spend on the final two positions so we have to be happy that Manneh is available at just under $5K. The Whitecaps face a tough test at LA and they will need their forwards to produce on the road in order to have any chance at salvaging at least a point in that game.
FLEX: Ika Opara, Kansas City
Salary: $3,300
Opara has been a solid defender for KC all year and despite the fact we already have three Sounders players locked in to our roster, we can’t resist taking him here as he is the best possible player on the board that we can still afford. Plugging him in completely fills out our remaining salary space and makes him a perfect fit in terms of the financial ledger.
