The Mississippi Braves (32-32) travel to Kodak, Tenn. to take on the Tennessee Smokies (36-29) in the first nationally televised game in the park’s history.
The Smokies are the Double-A team for the Chicago Cubs. The Braves, of course, are the Double-A team for the Atlanta Braves. Both are currently in second place in their divisions in the Southern League, with the Smokies still in a race with the Chattanooga Lookouts (Minnesota Twins) for the first-half title.
The Smokies boast six Southern League North All-Stars, led by first baseman Dan Vogelbach, the No. 13-ranked preseason Cubs prospect. The Braves have five players on the South All-Star team, with No. 20-ranked prospect Mallex Smith leading that contingent.
