The World Wrestling Entertainment’s next pay-per-view, WWE “Battleground”, is set for July 19. This Battleground 2015 event is getting extra attention from the WWE universe because of the return of Brock Lesnar, as he comes back from suspension looking for his world heavyweight championship, which is now in the hands of Seth Rollins.
Though the sport books carry lines on the WWE events usually for a couple of days before the event, it is unusual for the sport books to have lines up three weeks in advance, as is the case here. The presence of Lesnar certainly helps get the WWE attention, and the other matches up at the books already just as high profile. The “Battleground” brand is only in its third or forth year with the WWE, but it seems the 2015 edition could be a landmark one.
In addition to Lesnar’s return, the WWE is continuing to pit their long-time poster boy John Cena against up-start Kevin Owens, this time with Cena’s United States Championship on the line. The third match pits Bray Wyatt against Roman Reigns in what is likely the start of a big storyline feud between the two.
Many of the lines that the books put up for WWE events are wide lines that come with huge underdogs. Not only is the long lead time unusual for these lines, but they are all very tight, indicating a high possibility of a few surprise endings by the WWE creative team.
