UFC 189 Odds: Matt Brown Battles Tim Means On Undercard

The UFC 189 card is this Saturday, and the preliminary fights will be airing on Fox Sports 1 and on the UFC.tv website.  The feature undercard bouts are in the welterweight division as “The Immortal” Matt Brown takes on Tim Means and Ireland’s Cathal Pendred faces veteran John Howard.

Brown has been mortal as of late, dropping two hard fought decisions in a row to Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler to turn his impressive seven-fight winning streak prior to that into a thing of the past.  Means is a veteran of a lot of fights and he is riding a wave of momentum, having won four fights in a row in the UFC, but Brown has been operating at a higher level for a long time.

Pendred versus Howard has a similar feel to it as Pendred is a hot fighter, having won four UFC fights in a row since his 1-1 stint on the UFC reality show “The Ultimate Fighter”.  For his part, Howard is trying to stop a three-fight skid that has seen him gone from a promising up-and-comer to nearly out the door.  Some say Pendred has been carefully protected to build his record as the UFC looks for more Irish star power than just headliner Conor McGregor.
