The NFLPA might be publicly fighting for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, but in the back channels they’ve been working hard to make a deal with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Brady’s four-game suspension over DeflateGate.
According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano the NFLPA has made a settlement offer to the NFL that has been met with “silence.” The NFLPA has already said that if the NFL doesn’t change its ruling on Brady’s suspension it will challenge the decision in court, something that I don’t think Brady and the Patriots are too keen on doing. This backdoor deal offer seems to back that up.
Chances of negotiated settlement between league, union on Tom Brady's appeal of suspension seen as small…. http://t.co/qaOuhqEG2u

But that’s also the reason that Goodell doesn’t have to change a thing. Especially since according NBC Sports’ Mike Florio, there’s a group of NFL owners who don’t want the suspension reduced at all. No word on who these owners are, but there have been plenty of teams hurt by the Patriots’ past cheating shenanigans so there are 31 potential suspects.
There’s no reason for Goodell to wipe out the suspension. Even if the courts would throw it out, that doesn’t reflect on him. But I have real doubts that it would end up in the courts. There’s a reason Robert Kraft and the Patriots dropped any legal opposition to their own punishment and it’s much more severe than Brady’s four games. New England was fined $1 million and will lose its first round pick next year and third rounder in 2017. That’s basically two starting players on any future squad.

Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter out of jail on bond
After spending a couple of nights in jail following an arrest on a felonious assault charge Monday, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter is at large once again.
What should the @Titans do with Justin Hunter? Wide receiver could face release or suspension: http://t.co/MJUV1rkiPs pic.twitter.com/91RRsi7aX1

Hunter was arrested for participating in a Virginia Beach brawl on July 3, a fight that sent one person to the hospital. Hunter turned himself in when he found out about the warrant. According to prosecutors, Hunter punched the man twice in the face and broke his jaw.
Hunter can participate in Titans camp now that he’s out, but will likely face some kind of discipline from the NFL once all the legal actions are over. It’s a bad time for Hunter to miss any games since this could have been a break-out year for him opposite Kendall Wright. The Titans have a legitimate quarterback in Marcus Mariota for the first time since Hunter was drafted. Last year Hunter caught 28 passes for 498 yards and three touchdowns.
Arrest warrant out for Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson
For all of you out there who said that former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson couldn’t even get arrested at this point, the joke’s on you.
Got dammit, Sun Pass tolls RT @TMZ: Chad Johnson — MIA from Court … Wanted by Cops http://t.co/6jUouO2b4K

Johnson is being hunted down by the police in Pebroke, Fla. for skipping a court date for driving with a suspended license. Johnson currently plays for the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL, but has been suspended since May after being busted without his license. They take that kind of thing seriously in Canada, apparently.
Johnson can avoid jail time by returning to court and paying his $2,000 bond. Does he even have $2,000?
Clint Sessions is a terrible father
Clint Sessions was a mediocre linebacker in the NFL for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’s way worse at being a dad. Sessions was recently taken to court by Davia Bradshaw, the mother of Session’s three-year-old special needs daughter Ashton. Sessions has maid “erratic” child support payments and one of his checks even bounced.

According to the New Times Broward-Palm Beach, Sessions has tried to hide $5.1 million in cash by transferring it to his parents and avoid his child support obligations, claiming he has no money and no income. While he was claiming he had no cash, he bought an $850,000 house and a $34,820 Mercedes for his girlfriend among other stupid purchases. Sessions is supposed to be paying $6,000 a month in child support and $2,000 extra to make up for the payments he missed.
