UFC Fight Night 74: Max Holloway Comes In Hot Against Charles Oliveira

This Sunday in Sakatoon, Canada, the UFC Fight Night 74 event is headlined by the featherweight showdown between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira.

Holloway comes in as the hot hand with the most to gain from a win, as it would give him a seven-fight winning streak in the UFC.  Should Conor McGregor emerge as featherweight champion after his meeting with Jose Aldo, Holloway would be a natural first challenger for him, as he went the distance with McGregor in his last loss.  Oliveira has a solid four-fight winning streak of his own that he will be protecting as well.

The co-main event sees Neil Magny return on three weeks notice to take on Erick Silva.  Magny took a loss to Demian Maia in Brazil on Aug. 1, but he came through unscathed and he is returning to face another Brazilian.  Silva is on a two-fight winning streak that he would like to see go to three wins in a row, as his UFC resume includes a spell where he went 4-4 alternating wins and losses for almost three years.

Josh Burkman faces Patrick Cote in a clash of veterans who never seem to get any respect.  Cote has quietly won four of his last five UFC fights, while Burkamn has flopped in his UFC return, fighting a no contest and taking a loss in two outings so far.

A loss here could be the end of the UFC run for Burkman, who returned to the UFC after a career-saving run with the WSOF.
