Altidore, Bradley Lead The Way For MLS Fantasy Performers

Altidore had a signature outing this week.

The Los Angeles Galaxy certainly proved their dominance in a star-studded affair with New York City FC when they finished off the week with a 5-1 win on Sunday. However, they weren’t the only MLS team to hit the five-goal mark as Toronto FC was able to score that many in a 5-0 win over Orlando City SC the day before. Meanwhile, six different teams recorded clean sheet wins but there were three goalies in particular that stood out form a fantasy perspective based on their performances this week. Here is a look at the top individual fantasy performers from this past weekend in the MLS.

GK: Andre Blake, Philadelphia

The Union secured a crucial three points against the Montreal Impact thanks in big part to the play of their keeper Andre Blake, who turned away all five shots he faced in the 1-0 win. Colorado’s Clint Irwin and Vancouver’s David Ousted were all solid in their respective clean sheet wins but Blake’s four saves were enough for him to register the best fantasy stat line of the week for among all MLS goalkeepers. Honorable Mention: Clint Irwin, Colorado; David Ousted, Vancouver

D: Justin Morrow, Toronto FC

Toronto FC had no problem scoring goals in its 5-0 win over Orlando City SC as everybody wanted to get into the action – including defender Justin Morrow, who delivered his second goal of the season in the 71st minute. Morrow was all over the pitch for the reds in the clean sheet win and his goal put him over the top and gave him the best fantasy stat line of the week among MLS defenders.

D: Robbie Rogers, LA Galaxy

It’s no surprise that Rogers plays for the only other team that managed to score five goals this week as he had an assist and a shot on goal in the Galaxy’s 5-1 win over NYCFC. Rogers hasn’t been a very consistent fantasy producer but he is a reliable defender and he now has four points this season for LA. Honorable Mention: Tyson Wahl; Columbus; Saad Abdul-Salaam; Sporting Kansa City

M: Michael Bradley, Toronto FC

Bradley continues to be one of the most underrated MLS midfielders from a fantasy perspective. That’s especially true in DraftKings contests where he is still listed at a price tag under $6K. Bradley delivered again this week with a pair of assists in TFC’S 5-0 win and it will be a major surprise if his DraftKings price doesn’t go up this week.

M: Javier Morales, Real Salt Lake

Morales has consistently ranked among the top fantasy midfielders in the MLS and he continued his run with the penalty kick goal that stood as the game-winner in RSL’s 2-0 win over the Seattle Sounders. Morales now has six goals and eight assists in 19 games this season and continues to be an excellent fantasy option week in and week out. Honorable Mention: Sebastien Le Toux, Philadelphia; Dillon Serna, Colorado

F: Jozy Altidore, Toronto FC

It isn’t often that two TFC players make this list and neither of them is Sebastian Giovinco but that is the case this week thanks to Altidore’s two goals off the bench in their 5-0 win over Orlando City. Giovinco did score a ridiculous free kick goal to make his mark on the win but it was Altidore and Bradley that finished with the best fantasy stat lines for Toronto after both players managed to record two points in the victory.

F: Robbie Keane, LA Galaxy

Keane was all over the pitch for LA in its dominant win over NYCFC with the top fantasy line of the week regardless of position. He finished with two goals, including the game-winner as well as two assists and four shots on goal. The Galaxy attackers were relentless on the NYCFC defenders and Keane was the most dangerous player on the pitch. With a pair of goals Keane now has 15 markers in 17 games this season. Honorable Mention: Giovani Dos Santos, LA Galaxy; Lucas Melano, Portland; Will Bruin, Houston
