CFL Betting: The Calgary Stampeders will look to go to 3-0 as they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday night in a game that can be seen on ESPN 2. The Stampeders have looked like the best team in the league so far as they have won by a combined 63-23 in their first two games. They will be facing a Tiger-Cats team that comes in off a bye after losing their first two games. Let’s look at this matchup that has the Stampeders favored at home.
Red-Hot Mitchell
Calgary seems to have found their starting quarterback as Bo Levi Mitchell has been excellent this season. He threw four more TD passes in last week’s 34-15 rout of the Toronto Argonauts. The Stamps won without running back Jon Cornish and receivers Nik Lewis and Maurice Price. They could get Cornish and Lewis back this week as each was dealing with concussion symptoms. Price didn’t seem to miss either player as he threw for 268 yards. He is now 5-0 in his career as a starter and needs two more wins to tie the Calgary record of 7-0 to start a career held by former Stampeder Jeff Garcia. “We’re 2-0 right now, that’s all I’m worried about,” Mitchell said. “I’m not worried about my record, I’m worried about this team’s record and that’s what I’m going to keep worrying about. I keep doing everything I can in my power to get us in a position to win the game.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats 0-2 SU, 1-1 ATS
The Tiger-Cats were off last week and based on how they have started the season they needed the bye. It is not yet panic time in Hamilton but the team needs to play well this week. Hamilton has actually started 0-2 in nine of the past 12 seasons. The last four times the Tiger-Cats have started 0-2 they won the next game.
Game Notes
Hamilton has been a good road dog as they are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games. Calgary is 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 home games. Six of the last eight Hamilton road games have gone under. The last six Calgary home games have gone under.
