MLB Predictions – Battle of Division Leaders on Sunday as Milwaukee Brewers visit the Washington Nationals

MLB Betting:  The Milwaukee Brewers visit the Washington Nationals on Sunday in a matchup between two of the top teams in the National League.  The Brewers have been leading the National League Central for most of the season while the Nationals have been battling the Braves for the top spot in the National League East.  Here is a look at the game and MLB predictions.

Probable Pitchers – Gallardo vs. Fister

The Brewers are set to go with Yovani Gallardo on Sunday. He was supposed to be their ace but he has not really pitched like an ace this season. He is 5-5 on the season with a 3.68 ERA. He has really struggled of late with an 0-1 record and a 6.23 ERA.  He has a winning record in his career against the Nationals at 5-3 but his ERA is very poor at 5.61.

Doug Fister has been really good for the National this season as he comes into this game at 8-2 with a 2.90 ERA.  He shut down the Orioles last time out as he allowed just two runs on seven hits in seven innings. In his last three starts he is 2-0 with a 3.60 ERA. He has thrown just 4 innings in his career against the Brewers.

Game Notes

These teams met last month in Milwaukee and it was the Nationals taking two of three with two of the games going under. The Nationals have won six of the last ten at home in the series with two of the last three going under the MLB betting total. The Nationals have been far better at home this season than on the road. They were 28-19 at home before this series began. Conversely, the Brewers have been very good on the road as they were 28-19 in road games before this series started.

MLB Predictions

The pitching matchup in this one looks good but Gallardo simply isn’t throwing the ball well of late.  We’ll look for the Washington Nationals to win this one on Sunday with Doug Fister on the mound.
