Akron Zips vs Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns College Football Prediction

The Akron Zips head to Cajun Field to take on the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns this week. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sep 26 and will be available on the ESP3.

In its last game before the bye, Louisiana-Lafayette smashed Northwestern State 44-17. Elijah McGuire had a huge game running the ball in the victory, dashing 14 times for 162 yards and five TDs. Devin Scott put up 90 yards on three catches. Akron easily got past Savannah State 52-9 in its matchup. Conor Hundley had a great game running the ball for the Zips, dashing 12 times for 127 yards and one TD. Thomas Woodson also had a great game with 207 yards and a TD through the air.

The Zips are a seven-point underdog against the Ragin’ Cajuns and the Over/Under (O/U) for the matchup is unavailable currently.

While the Ragin’ Cajuns are currently 1-1 Straight Up (SU), they’ve managed an Against The Spread (ATS) record of 2-0 so far this year. They should have success on offense against the Zips, who go into the week as one of the worst-scoring defenses in the nation at 24.7 points allowed per game. The Louisiana-Lafayette defense might not be overly concerned this week as the Zips average 20.7 points per game. There aren’t many better in the country at defending the pass than the Ragin’ Cajuns. Louisiana-Lafayette only allows a 50.0% completion percentage to its opponents. The Zips will need to stop Louisiana-Lafayette’s defense from getting to their quarterbacks in order to be successful in this game. The Ragin’ Cajuns rank 13th in the nation in sacks with 3.5 per game.

Over on the other sideline, the Zips are a terrible bet ATS so far this season with a record of 0-3 to go along with a 1-2 SU record. Passing the ball has resulted in very positive outcomes for the Zips, who average the 11th-best yards per pass in the nation with 15.7. The Zips will look to put the ball in the end zone against a Louisiana-Lafayette defense that allows an average of 10 points in the second quarter, one of the worst marks in the nation.
