The push to the MLS playoffs continues this weekend with seven games on the schedule for Saturday. Here is a look at our optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings MLS Daily Fantasy Leagues.
GK: Tyler Deric, Houston
Salary: $5,000
Houston spoiled a perfect opportunity to gain some ground in the Western Conference with consecutive losses to Real Salt Lake and Philadelphia, but they bounced back with a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City in their last game. They have to capitalize on the opportunity this week as they clash with a Colorado team that currently sits in the conference basement. The Rapids have scored the fewest goals in the MLS by a long shot this season so it only makes sense to plug in Deric as the top goalkeeper on the board for Saturday’s contests.
D: Raul Rodriguez, Houston
Salary: $4,000
Sticking with the theme of Houston being in a must-win situation, remember they’re facing a last-place team that has scored the fewest goals in the MLS this season. That’s why we have no problem going back to the Dynamo for our top defender with sneaky value play. Rodriguez hasn’t been the most consistent fantasy defender but he will benefit if Houston shuts out Colorado. More importantly, he is available at the right price for us in this spot.
D: Ashtone Morgan, Toronto FC
Salary: $4,000
Toronto FC is another playoff contender that is set to clash with a last-place team this weekend with a home date against Chicago. While the Fire offense has looked good of late, they will be in tough in this matchup. Morgan has been incredibly consistent on the back end for Toronto all year and he is another defender available at a decent price. That will allow us to save more money for other positions where we will need it more.
M: Michael Bradley, Toronto FC
Salary: $8,000
Bradley was an underrated commodity all season and while DraftKings has finally raised his price tag to where it should be (at $8K), this isn’t the week we are going to shy away from him. Toronto should to put up some big numbers against the Fire. Bradley has played an integral role in the TFC midfield and he should be in for another big game this weekend.
M: Justin Mapp, Montreal
Salary: $4,400
Our first veer away from Houston and TFC is for an ideal value midfielder. Mapp represents an excellent sleeper play as a key midfielder in a loaded Montreal attack. The fact that we can plug in Mapp for only $4.4K makes it the perfect price that can allow us to splurge a little bit when it comes to our forwards.

F: Sebastian Giovinco, Toronto FC
Salary: $14,000
The fact that we have enough money to spend on Giovinco up front is a testament to our ability to find quality bargain plays elsewhere. While he is the most expensive player on the board, he will be worth every dollar if he produces the way he did in his last outing when he had a pair of goals and an assist. Giovinco has the potential to put on a dominant showing against a Chicago team that hasn’t been good defensively. We love having the best fantasy player available to build the rest of our lineup around.
F: Will Bruin, Houston
Salary: $7,100
Bruin isn’t among the leading scorers in the MLS but he is an excellent value option for a Houston team whose matchup we have raved about. That makes him the perfect forward to pair with Giovinco up front. The Dynamo should score at least a couple of goals against Colorado this weekend and Bruin will be among their top fantasy performers.
FLEX: Eric Miller, Montreal
Salary: $3,200
It will be important to keep an eye on the injury report for this weekend. We have a couple of options for our FLEX spot with the remaining $3.6K that we have available and if Miller is starting on Montreal’s back line, make sure to plug him in here. There are a couple of sleeper plays based on injury this weekend but we like Miler if he is in the Impact’s starting XI so keep an eye out for that.
