MLS Daily Fantasy Lineup: Tierney Remains A Go-To Defenseman

We're splurging on Tierney this weekend.

The push towards the MLS playoffs continues this weekend with a full slate of games on Saturday. We’ve got six different matchups to choose from, so there’s plenty of options when it comes to the DraftKings MLS Daily Fantasy Leagues. While it was tempting to bet on top scorers like Kei Kamara and Sebastian Giovinco to do some damage, we opted to spread the wealth around and build our lineup around talented value plays that have the potential to outperform their price tags. Here is a look at our optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings MLS Daily Fantasy Leagues.

GK: David Ousted, Vancouver

Salary: $4,600

Vancouver’s hold on top spot in the Western Conference slipped following back-to-back losses to the Seattle Sounders and New York City FC but they have an excellent chance to right the ship this weekend. They’re facing a San Jose team that has struggled when it comes to consistency in the goal-scoring department. Home-field advantage should work in the Whitecaps favor and Ousted is a good bet for a clean sheet win.

D: Chris Tierney, New England

Salary: $7,000

If there is one MLS defender that is worth spending a little more money than normal on in Daily Fantasy Leagues, it is undoubtedly Tierney, who has been a fairly consistent fantasy star for New England all season. Tierney’s price tag is a little high but New England hasn’t recorded a win in back-to-back games following a six-game winning streak. They should have no problem getting back on track against Chicago.

D: Jordan Harvey, Vancouver

Salary: $4,400

It only makes sense to compliment a star like Tierney with a sleeper play on the back end and Harvey is exactly the type of value defender that fits our team perfectly. Vancouver should get back on track with a win this weekend and Harvey is available at the right price to bet on him having a strong fantasy performance this weekend.

M: Diego Fagundez, New England

Salary: $7,300

We like this matchup for the Revolution against a Fire side that has been terrible defensively this season. Fagundez is certainly one of the best options in their midfield. The fact that he is available at under $7.5K makes him even more attractive as it allows us to spread our available cap space around our lineup.

M: Jonathan Osorio, Toronto

Salary: $5,000

DraftKings finally realized how undervalued they had Michael Bradley and raised his price to $8K. While we can’t afford that type of price tag this week, there is another Toronto midfielder worth investing in as a value play: Jonathan Osorio. He might not put up the same numbers as Bradley this weekend but he is available at $3K less and should factor in to the TFC attack as a sleeper play for this weekend.

F: Cyle Larin, Orlando

Salary: $8,800

It took some time for Larin to get back on track but after breaking the MLS rookie goal scoring record in style, we have no problem going back to him at a very reasonable price this weekend. Orlando City SC is just on the outside of the playoffs looking in right now and they will be relying on Larin to produce a big game up front against Montreal at home this weekend.

F: Charlie Davies, New England

Salary: $8,400

After earning only a single point in its last two games, New England is one point back of the New York Red Bulls for top spot in the Eastern Conference. However, they have an excellent opportunity to score some goals against a Chicago team that is stuck in the Eastern Conference basement. Davies should have plenty of opportunities to do some damage and he is available at the right price in this spot.

FLEX: Steven Beitashour, Vancouver

Salary: $4,500

With exactly $4.5K left over to spend on our FLEX position, we go back to the Whitecaps favorable matchup for the best available talent. That is where we find another bargain price tag with Beitashour. Vancouver has the potential to beat up on San Jose and we are confident that Beitashour is the best bet that we can still afford with the remaining money we have left over for this final spot.
