Two prolific offenses will be on display in this one as the Georgia Bulldogs (4-1) take on the Tennessee Volunteers (2-3). The country’s third-leading rusher, Nick Chubb (745 yards, 7 TDs), will be featured in this game. A bad season has only gotten worse for Tennessee, as they have lost three of its last four. The game starts at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct 10 and will be available on CBS.
In last week’s matchup, Tennessee lost to Arkansas 24-20. Joshua Dobbs had a solid performance through the air in the loss, connecting on 20 of 36 pass attempts for 232 yards. Jalen Hurd put up 90 rushing yards on 19 carries. Georgia also came up short, had an ugly loss against Alabama 38-10. Nick Chubb had a huge game running the ball for the Bulldogs, rushing 20 times for 146 yards and one TD. Malcolm Mitchell had 65 receiving yards on three catches.
The Over/Under (O/U) for the Volunteers-Bulldogs game this week is currently not available and Georgia is a slender two-point favorite.
With a 2-3 record for both Straight Up (SU) and Against The Spread (ATS), the Volunteers will look to improve as they head into Week 6. The Volunteers love to run, ranking 13th in the country with 48.4 rushing attempts per game. In the second quarter, Tennessee is a tough test, putting up 13 points. Tennessee’s special teams squad is a force to be reckoned with. They average 158.2 return yards per game, second in Division I.
Over on the other sideline, the Bulldogs haven’t fared well ATS, sitting at 2-3. However, they are 4-1 SU this season. Chances are Georgia will continue to rely on its run game, where its 244.8 rushing yards per game ranks 16th in the nation. Moving on to the Georgia defense, it has some favorable matchups that it may be able to take advantage of as well. Georgia’s pass defense ranks 24th in the nation. This frightening unit gives up just 170.8 yards per game through the air. The Volunteers will have to stay focused in the third quarter against Georgia. The Bulldogs usually start off the second half with dominance, averaging 15 points during the third quarter.
