The right-handed Ariel Jurado will get the start for the visiting Rangers. Jurado is 2-5 with a 7.03 ERA and 14 strikeouts. He has yet to face the Padres this year and did not record a start against them in 2017, either.

The Padres will turn to Eric Lauer (5-7, 4.80 ERA), who has 85 punchouts and 42 walks to his name as well as a WHIP of 1.62. Lauer did not accrue any MLB pitching stats in 2017.

The San Diego offense is putting up 3.8 runs per contest, including 3.7 per game over its last 10 games and 3.2 per game over its last five. The team has slashed .224/.298/.385 over its last five games and is 3-2 SU during that stretch.

The Padres’ offense has been led by first baseman Eric Hosmer and shortstop Freddy Galvis. Hosmer is slashing .250/.317/.396 with 16 home runs, 62 RBIs and 68 runs scored, while Galvis is batting .230 with 11 homers, 60 RBIs and 51 runs.

Rangers hitters have slashed .242/.324/.409 on their way to 4.7 runs scored per game this season, including 3.1 runs per game over the team’s last 10 games and 2.6 per game over the team’s last five outings (2-3 SU).

Texas’ offense has been sparked by Shin-soo Choo and Jurickson Profar, who’ve collectively blasted 38 home runs. Choo is slashing .270/.383/.450 with 21 home runs, 61 RBIs and 80 runs scored. Profar (.256/.340/.458) has produced 17 homers, 73 RBIs and 76 runs scored.

The Padres have gained 1.3 units and are 53-47 ATS when facing a right-handed starting pitcher. The over has hit in 44 of those games, compared to 53 that’ve hit the under against righty starters.
