Loren Easly was a bright spot in the loss for North Texas, recording 110 rushing yards and a score on 22 attempts, along with 30 yards on one catch. For Louisiana Tech, J’mar Smith completed 20-of-39 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Israel Tucker (95 yards on 15 rush attempts) and Kam McKnight (34 yards on 10 carries) spearheaded the running game as Adrian Hardy (seven receptions, 75 yards, one TD) and Rhashid Bonnette (five catches, 101 yards) led the pass-catching attack in the win.
