Hoping to extend their undefeated record, the No. 17 Iowa Hawkeyes (6-0) travel to take on the No. 20 Northwestern Wildcats (5-1). The Big 10’s third-leading rusher, Jordan Canzeri (697 yards, 9 TDs), will be featured in this game. It will begin Saturday, Oct 17 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
In last week’s matchup, Northwestern got blown out by Michigan 38-0. Austin Carr had a solid performance in the loss, pulling in two receptions for 39 yards. Iowa is hoping for another victory like last week’s performance, when it defeated Illinois 29-20. Jordan Canzeri had a huge game running the ball for the Hawkeyes, rushing 43 times for 256 yards and one TD. Jerminic Smith also had a great game with 118 receiving yards on four catches.
Iowa is a slender two-point favorite as they take on the Wildcats.
Sitting at 5-1 Straight Up (SU) and 4-2 Against The Spread (ATS), the Wildcats will look to improve heading into Week 7. The Wildcats love to run, ranking seventh in the country with 51.7 rushing attempts per game. Turning to the Wildcats defense, there are several areas to keep an eye on. Expect the Wildcats defense to restrict Iowa’s passing attack. The Wildcats have the seventh-ranked pass defense in the nation and give up only 138.2 passing yards per game.
In the other locker room, the Hawkeyes head into Week 7 with records of 4-2 ATS and 6-0 SU. Iowa, only allowing 2.5 yards per rush, has a good chance of shutting down its competitor’s rushing offense.
Predictions: SU Winner – Iowa, ATS Winner – Iowa
