The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (5-1) put their three-game win streak on the line as they travel to take on the North Texas Mean Green (0-5). The country’s second-leading passer, Brandon Doughty (2,359 yards, 20 TDs), and third-leading receiver, Taywan Taylor (691 yards, 8 TDs), will be featured in this game. It will air Thursday, Oct 15 at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBSS.
In last week’s matchup, North Texas got blown out by Portland State 66-7. Carlos Harris had a quality performance in the loss, pulling in nine receptions for 57 yards and one TD. Western Kentucky is hoping for another victory like last week’s performance, when it smashed Middle Tennessee 58-28. Taywan Taylor had a huge game for the Hilltoppers, grabbing six receptions for 120 yards and three TDs. Brandon Doughty also had a great game with 359 yards and five TDs through the air.
The Hilltoppers are favored by 26 points against the Mean Green this week and the Over/Under (O/U) is unavailable currently.
The Mean Green have performed below expectations so far this year with a 0-5 record Straight Up (SU) and Against The Spread (ATS).
Over on the other sideline, the Hilltoppers head into Week 7 with records of 4-1-1 ATS and 5-1 SU. Chances are Western Kentucky will continue to rely on its passing attack, where its 408.3 passing yards per game ranks third in the nation. Moving on to the Western Kentucky defense, there are certain areas where it measures up well against the Mean Green. If the Mean Green don’t do a good job holding on to the ball, they’ll have a hard time against the Hilltoppers defense, which ranks third in the country in turnovers with 2.8 per game. Teams need to stay focused in the first quarter against the fast-starting Hilltoppers, who average 15.2 points in the first 15 minutes.
Predictions: SU Winner – Western Kentucky, ATS Winner – Western Kentucky
