Georgia Southern Eagles at Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks Betting Preview

In this Saturday Sun Belt game, Georgia Southern is projected as the favorite and is currently giving up 7.5 points. The Eagles are also receiving -330 moneyline odds while the Warhawks are +250. The line opened at 8. The game’s O/U hasn’t moved since it opened at 56.5.

Both of these teams have rewarded gamblers this season as the Eagles have gained 8.6 units and the Warhawks are up 1.6 units.

The Eagles have gone 7-1 straight up (SU), including 4-0 SU against SBC opponents. The Warhawks are 4-4 SU overall and are also 2-2 SU in conference play.

The Eagles have produced 276 rush yards/game (including 271 per game versus Sun Belt opponents) and have 25 scores on the ground this year. The Warhawks are totaling 175 rushing yards per game (199 in conference) and have 13 total rush TDs.

If the numbers so far this season are any indication, then the Eagles might own an edge in all aspects of the ground game. Georgia Southern appears to possess an advantage in both areas of the defense. The team has allowed opponents to rush for an average of 148 yards and pass for 209 yards per game. The Louisiana-Monroe defense has allowed 287.4 yards per game to opposing passers and 195.9 yards per game on the ground. The Eagles are allowing an adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) of just 4.09 to opponents, while the Warhawks have given up an 8.47 ANY/A.

Passing-wise, Werts has put up 471 yards this season, and has connected on 27-of-50 attempts with five passing scores and has yet to throw an interception. Werts has a pristine 8.88 adjusted net yards per pass attempt overall, although that number sits at 18.38 over the last two games.

Caleb Evans has managed to complete 143-of-246 passes for 1,522 yards, eight TDs and six INTs for Louisiana-Monroe. His ANY/A sits at 5.16 for the season and 7.23 over his last two outings.
